14 DEGREES LAST NIGHT....17 TODAY.
IN THE 20'S OVER THE WEEKEND AND MONDAY, RAIN AND UPPER 30'S FOR ONE DAY ONLY.

THE MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL SEE A 3.1 PERCENT
DECREASE IN FUNDING FROM THE STATE NEXT YEAR.
THAT EQUALS $269,759. THAT'S BECAUSE THE DISTRICT SAW A REDUCTION
OF 45 STUDENTS A YEAR AGO AND DISTRICTS RECEIVE FUNDING BASED ON
THE PREVIOUS YEAR'S ENROLLMENT. THIS YEAR, THERE'S A MUCH
SMALLER REDUCTION AT 16 STUDENTS.
SUPT. KIM HUCKSTADT CALLED THE SITUATION A CHALLENGING PICTURE
FOR THE DISTRICT AND HE SAID THEY WILL BE WORKING THROUGH IT IN THE COMING WEEKS.
COST CUTTING TIME!

THE JACKSON COUNTY CATTLEMEN WILL HOST THEIR ANNUAL BANQUET
TOMORROW NIGHT. SERVING OF THE RIBEYE STEAK DINNER WILL BE
FROM 6 UNTIL 7:30 AT THE PEARSON CENTER ON THE FAIRGROUNDS
IN MAQUOKETA,. FOLLOWING THE MEAL, THERE WILL BE A SHORT
BUSINESS MEETING, THE CROWNING OF THE NEW BEEF AMBASSADORS,
QUEEN AND PRINCESS AND ENTERTAINMENT. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND
TICKETS AT THE DOOR WILL BE $15.00.
