JUDGE NANCY TABOR SENTENCED SUMMER HICKS MICHELS, AGE 21 OF MAQUOKETA TO 60 DAYS, 53 SUSPENDED ON CHARGES OF CHILD ENDANGERMENT. SHE WAS ALSO ORDERED TO PAY A $1,000 FINE. ALSO, SENTENCED, SETH SIMONEN, AGE 21 OF MAQUOKETA, TO 120 DAYS IN JAIL, 90 SUSPENDED, ON CHARGES OF CHILD ENDANGERMENT AND 120 DAYS, 90 SUSPENDED, ON CHARGES OF POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE; METHAMPHETAMINE. A CHARGE OF POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: MARIJUANA....WAS DISMISSED. THE DRUG MAKING INCIDENT OCCURED AT 1205 E. PLATT STREET LAST OCTOBER.
THE 3RD ANNUAL DANCING WITH THE CARDS EVENT WAS A BIG HIT AGAIN
LAST SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, WITH OVER 500 IN ATTENDANCE FOR THE EVENT SPONSORED BY THE MAQUOKETA ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB.
FIRST PLACE WAS WON BY PHARMACIST MATT OSTERHAUS AND HIS DAUGHTER LAURA OSTERHAUS, A STUDENT AT MCHS AND MEMBER OF THE HIGH SCHOOL
DANCE TEAM. SECOND PLACE WAS TAKEN BY RICH HALL, MANAGER OF THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER IN MAQUOKETA AND CASSIDAY MORRIS, ALSO
A HIGH SCHOOL DANCER. GOOD SHOW.
DERRY BROWNFIELD, AGE 79, DIED IN HIS SLEEP FRIDAY NIGHT AT HIS FARM
HOME IN CALIFORNIA, MISSOURI. HE STARTED THE BROWNFIELD FARM NETWORK (KMAQ IS A MEMBER) BACK IN 1972 AND SINCE 1994 ON KMAQ-AM, HAS HAD A DAILY
NETWORK AG TALK SHOW WEEKDAY MORNINGS. HE TWICE VISITED KMAQ AND THIS AREA TO SPEAK AT A FARM DINNER, AS HE WAS ALSO A POPULAR AFTER-DINNER SPEAKER ABOUT AGRICULTURE, INCLUDING HUMOR.
THE IRISH MUSIC, COMEDY AND DANCING SHOW YESTERDAY AFTERNOON WAS
VERY GOOD AND HAD A VERY GOOD ATTENDANCE....AT OHNWARD.
AND....CHORAL PROFESSOR DR. JACK BROMAN (OLDEST SON OF THE LATE DR. JOHN) BROUGHT HIS GEORGIA COLLEGE CHOIR TO MAQUOKETA THIS WEEKEND AND WE ENJOYED THEIR 90-MINUTE CONCERT SATURDAY NIGHT AT FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH. NICE TURN-OUT FOR IT AND THEY ALSO SANG AT THE 9 A.M.
SUNDAY SERVICE.
WE MADE IT TO THE DANCING SHOW AT 6:30....AND AFTER FIRST-ROUND DANCING
THERE, HEADED TO THE CHURCH AT 7:40 TO HEAR MOST OF THE CONCERT.

Doesn't anyone else think it's about time we see Steve Flynn in the Dancing With The Cards program. I have heard he moves with the grace of Fred Astaire and the lightness of feet of Michael Jackson.
