CLOUDY TODAY AND A HIGH OF 23. SOME FLURRIES THIS MORNING.
NO MORE SNOW THIS WEEK....WHILE DAYTIME TEMPERATURES WILL BE MOSTLY IN
THE 20'S BUT INTO THE 30'S FRIDAY.

SATURDAY NIGHT, A GROUP OF SNOWMOBILERS WERE TRAVELING EAST BOUND
ON THE MAQUOKETA RIVER WHEN TWO BECAME SUBMERGED IN THE RIVER JUST OVER A MILE EAST OF THE DAMON BRIDGE ABOUT 5 MILES NORTH OF PRESTON.
ONE DRIVE, BRETT STALKER OF SABULA, AGE 34, WAS ABLE TO CLIMB TO SAFETY.
THE OTHER DRIVER HAS NOT BEEN FOUND. HE IS SHAWN BERTHEL, AGE 23, OF
RURAL PRESTON. DIVERS FROM LAMBOURNE DIVING SERVICE SEARCHED
THE MAQUOKETA RIVER AGAIN TODAY.

IN SPORTS:
SATURDAY, THE CARDINAL WRESTLERS TOOK 5TH PLACE IN THE TEN-TEAM
MIDLAND TOURNAMENT AT WYOMING. MAQUOKETA HAD TWO CHAMPIONS:
HAVEN MILLER AT 119 POUNDS AND JOSH HOLTZ AT 171.
THE WRESTLERS HOST INDEPENDENCE TOMORROW NIGHT AND THE MATCHES
WILL BE BROADCAST "LIVE" FROM THE MCHS GYM BY PAUL KOOB AND
LEIGHTON HEPKER, STARTING SHORTLY AFTER 6. THE MATCHES ON KMAQ-FM
AND OUR WEB SITE.
FRIDAY NIGHT, IN HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL, THE CARDINALS WILL HOST THE
DEWITT SABERS IN A BOY-GIRL DOUBLE-HEADER, STARTING AT 6 P.M. MATT
CLARK WILL BROADCAST BOTH GAMES ON KMAQ-FM AND OUR WEB SITE.
AND IN FOOTBALL, I KNEW THE PACKERS WOULD BEAT THE BEARS YESTERDAY.
AND THEY WILL BEAT THE STEELERS ALSO IN THE SUPER BOWL, FEBRUARY 6TH.

YESTERDAY, I MENTIONED A NEW BUSINESS COMING TO THE CORNER OF MAIN
AND PLATT. TODAY, I TOOK ANOTHER LOOK AT THE LITTLE SIGN IN THE
WINDOW. IT SAYS: COMING SOON. SCENT AND SIGHT.

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT.

A LADY DOWN IN FLORIDA IS DOING AN ESSAY ON THE CARTER FAMILY.
MANY YEARS AGO, MAQUOKETA HAD A CARTER - RINGLEP HARDWARE
STORE. THAT'S THE CARTER FAMILY SHE IS RESEARCHING. ANYONE
OUT THERE WITH A INFORMATION ABOUT THE MAQUOKETA CARTER.
