THE 13TH ANNUAL JACK MARLOWE HOLIDAY ALUMNI TOURNAMENT IS THIS SATURDAY AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, SPONSORED BY THE MAQUOKETA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION. IT STARTS AT 12 NOON AND WILL BE ON TWO COURTS. THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WILL BE AT 5 P.M. NEW THIS YEAR, DURING THE SAME TIME, IN THE WEST GYM, A VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT.
MCHS SOPHOMORE BRAD WALLER, IN THE NFL CHAMPTIONSHIP PUNT, PASS AND KICK EVENT SUNDAY BEFORE THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS GAME, TOOK FIRST PLACE IN THE 14-15 YEAR OLD BOY'S DIVISION. HIS PARENTS ARE DR. ROGER AND TRACY WALLER. LIZ GAVIN, DAUGHTER OF BOB AND JENNIFER GAVIN, TOOK THIRD PLACE IN THE 12 AND 13 YEAR OLD DIVISION.
THE ILLINOIS MAN WHO IS ACCUSED OF SHOOTING A SABULA MAN EARLY
SUNDAY MORNING, TODAY BONDED OUT OF JAIL. HIS FAMILY PAID THE
$25,000 CASH BOND AT THE COURTHOUSE IN MAQUOKETA. HE SHOT
WITH A SHOTGUN, SHELDON WOODHURT, AGE 46, OF SABULA, OUTSIDE THE
LUCKY 7 BAR IN SABULA. MAKING BOND TODAY WAS DAVID ZABRANSKY, AGE 46,
OF THE CHICAGO AREA. HE WAS HUNTING IN JACKSON COUNTY OVER THE
WEEKEND. WOODHURST IS A PATIENT AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS BEING
TREATED FOR GUNSHOT WOUNDS. HIS CONDITION HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED.
THE NEW TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT WESTGATE DRIVE AND WEST PLATT WERE
SCHEDULED TO BE INSTALLED THIS WEEK. BUT THE INSTALATION HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL NEXT WEEK. THERE WILL BE THREE STOP AND GO SIGNALS
IN THE SHORT DISTANCE FROM THE McDONALD'S CORNER WESTERLY TO
THE OFF RAMP OF 61 ONTO 64. THEY WILL BE SYNCHRONIZED.
ADAM HEPKER, OF KANSAS CITY AND FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA, IS A
MEMBER OF THE NEW ABA PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM THAT

CINDY AND LEIGHTON HEPKER OF MAQUOKETA, IS A TEACHER IN KC AND

NEW TEAM. HIS WIFE AMY IS ALSO A TEACHER IN KC. KANSAS CITY IS EXCITED ABOUT HAVING A NEW PRO TEAM FOR THE CITY. AND, I'M SURE ADAM IS EXCITED ABOUT PLAYING PRO BASKETBALL AGAIN THIS SEASON. LAST SEASON, HE PLAYED FOR A PRO TEAM IN GERMANY.
