BESSIE EHLINGER IS 90 TOMORROW. SHE WORKED AT CLINTON ENGINES
IN MAQUOKETA AND AT THE OTTER CREEK STATION. SHE HAS 11 CHILDREN
AND 22 GRANDCHILDREN.
THE CITY COUNCIL HOPES TO OPEN BIDS FOR THE FIRE DEBRIS REMOVAL
AT THE DECEMBER 21ST MEETING. NOTE...THE WORD "HOPES".
AND HAPPY TO REPORT THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS ARE GOING UP IN
DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA....ON THE TREES....AND EVEN MORE HAPPY TO REPORT
THAT THE LIGHTS ARE MULTI-COLOR, MOSTLY GREEN AND RED. GREAT!! I KNOW MANY, MANY LIKE ALL-WHITE.... BUT WE'VE HAD ALL-WHITE FOR YEARS AND YEARS. IT IS NICE TO SEE A CHANGE. THANKS TO THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR MAKING THE CHANGE AND THANKS TO MMEU (MAQUOKETA ELECTRIC LIGHT AND POWER) FOR AGAIN PUTTING THE LIGHTS UP AS A SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY. THE LIGHTS ARE PAID-FOR BY DONATIONS AND THE KMAQ
CHECK WILL BE IN THE MAIL. THE LIST OF CONTRIBUTORS WILL BE POSTED IN
THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FRONT WINDOW. ANYONE CAN DONATE.
LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW......AFTER THE CORN IS ALL IN.
