NICE DAY TODAY...MAY BE LAST 60'S DAY FOR AWHILE.    WE WILL BE IN THE
50'S (EVEN HIGH 40'S) THE REST OF THE WEEK....AND THEY PREDICT UPPER 20'S FOR
OVERNIGHT LOW SATURDAY NIGHT.   THAT WOULD BE OUR FIRST FROST.

JOE AND ALISHA YAROLEM, JR. OF MAQUOKETA ARE PARENTS OF A GIRL BORN
LAST WEDNESDAY AT MERCY IN DUBUQUE.      GRANDPARENTS ARE
JACKIE FISH OF MAQUOKETA AND JOE AND PAM YAROLEM, SR. OF MAQUOKETA.

THE NEW $12.8 MILLION ANAMOSA HOSPITAL WILL BE DEDICATED SATURDAY.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL HAS PROPOSED NO PAY RAISE FOR POLICE OFFICERS AND DISPATCHERS.        THE SECOND OF TWO PUBLIC MEETINGS
WS HELD WITH THE UNION MONDAY AFTERNOON.

THE CITY COUNCIL APPROVED THIS WEEK, A LOW BID FROM RIVER CITY PAVING TO RE-DO WASHINGTON STREET IN FRONT OF THE HIGH SCHOOL.   THE BID WAS
$67,203.     IT IS HOPED THE WORK CAN BE COMPLETED YET THIS YEAR.

THE CITY ALSO APPROVED THE THIRD AND FINAL READING OF AN ORDINANCE
WHICH PROHIBITS APARTMENTS ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF BUILDINGS IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA.  

IT IS FIRE PREVENTION WEEK AND TONIGHT AT 6 P.M. THE CITY-WIDE EXIT
DRILLS IN THE HOME..  EDITH  DRILLS....WILL BE DONE BY RESIDENTS.
FIREMEN WILL GO UP AND DOWN THE STREETS COUNTING THE RESIDENTS
THAT PARTICIPATED IN THE 6 P.M. DRILL EMPHASIZING  A PLAN IN ADVANCE BY FAMILES TO GET OUT OF THEIR  HOUSE QUICKLY IN CASE OF FIRE.

CHRISTINE MITCHELL REPORTED LAST NIGHT THAT A GREEN MONGOOSE BIKE WITH PEGS WAS STOLEN FROM LITTLE BEAR PARK.
