NANCY MOORE AND HER MOTHER ELOISE STEWART. WE WERE THE GUEST OF ELOISE WHO HAS BEEN A RESIDENT OF CLOVER RIDGE SINCE LAST FALL.
ELOISE WILL BE 99 IN APRIL. SHE WENT TO A SMALL TEACHER'S COLLEGE,
BEFORE THE DEPRESSION, AT EVANSTON, ILLINOIS AND THEN TOOK A TEACHING JOB AT ANKENY, IOWA. THEN GOT MARRIED, LIVED IN MILWAUKEE FOR A YEAR
(WHERE SON SEN. ROGER STEWART) WAS BORN AND THEN MOVED TO THE FAMILY FARM ABOUT 7 MILES EAST OF MAQUOKETA, JUST OFF HIGHWAY 64. AND THAT WAS WHERE SHE LIVED (AND NANCY WAS BORN) UNTIL LAST FALL. SHE LIKES TO TELL THE FACT THAT WHEN SHE WAS BORN, SHE WAS TINY AND SLEPT IN A SHOE BOX AND SHE WAS NOT GIVEN A NAME FOR NEARLY A YEAR. THEY JUST CALLED HER BABE. SHE LIKED THE SOUP LAST NIGHT, BUT HER FAVORITE FOOD
IS MOUNTAIN DEW AND HERSHEY BARS. LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE, SHE HAS
MEMORY AND HEARING PROBLEMS. SHE IS AWARE OF THE ECONOMY SITUATION AND IS FAST TO REMIND US THAT SHE LIVED THROUGH THE GREAT DEPRESSION.
