THE AUGUST RADIO WINNER ON KMAQ WAS KEN LITTERER OF RURAL MAQUOKETA,
RETIRED MAQUOKETA BUSINESSMAN AND FORMER KMAQ ADVERTISER. THE DRAWING WAS HELD JUST AFTER 5 P.M. ON KMAQ, WITH DOTTIE BAYLES OF THE KMAQ SALES OFFICE (STARTED WITH US IN 1977) DRAWING OUT THE WINNING NAME.
WE WILL HAVE A PHOTO OF KEN ON THIS REPORT LATER THIS WEEK. AND WE WILL ALSO HAVE UP TOMORROW, A PHOTO OF OUR SEPTEMBER FREE RADIO. WE ARE GIVING AWAY 12 FREE RADIOS IN 2008, OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR. OVER 500 LISTENERS HAVE SENT IN THEIR NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER AND THE YEAR THEY STARTED LISTENING TO KMAQ.

THE LAST OF THE ORIGINAL STAFF MEMBERS AT SUNSHINE PRE-SCHOOL AND DAY CARE CENTER IN MAQUOKETA, SPENT HER FINAL DAY OF WORK THERE ON AUGUST 28TH. SEE HUTTON WORKED FOR 35 YEARS AT SUNSHINE AND REMEMBERS DAY ONE WHEN NANCY MOORE OPENED THE FACILITY IN THE BASEMENT OF THE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST. HER DAUGHTER JILL STARTED AT SUNSHINE WHEN SHE WAS 2 YEARS OLD AND WENT THRU THE ENTIRE PROGRAM. NOW, JILL WORKS AT SUNSHINE. SUE'S FOUR SONS WORKED AT SUNSHINE OFF AND ON AS THEY WERE GROWING UP AND NOW 3 OF THE 4 SONS ARE IN EDUCATION. SHE WILL CONTINUE HER FULLTIME WORK AT WALMART IN MAQUOKETA, ANOTHER JOB SUE HAS HAD FOR MANY YEARS.

SHIRLEY WOOD, AGE 76, FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA, DIED SATURDAY
IN BURLINGTON. HER OBITUARY CAN BE READ AT www.carsonandson.com
HER LATE HUSBAND, CHUCK, WAS A SALESMAN FOR KMAQ IN THE VERY EARLY DAYS OF KMAQ.

COUNTRY SINGER JERRY REED, AGE 71, HAS DIED. HE APPEARED IN THE
SMOKEY AND BANDIT MOVIE TOO AND WAS THE MAIN ENTERTAINER IN MAQUOKETA AT THE 1986 JACKSON COUNTY FAIR.
