WE HAD GREAT WEATHER OVER THE WEEKEND AND TODAY WAS ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY. SUNNY TODAY WITH A HIGH OF 76. THE REST OF THE WEEK TOO, WITH A CHANCE OF SOME RAIN ON THURSDAY. AND RIGHT NOW, IT LOOKS LIKE THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND WILL BE NICE.

A CROP DUSTER PLANE, OPERATED BY A TENNESSEE MAN, WENT DOWN IN A HAY FIELD OWNED BY BILL MILLER, RURAL MAQUOKETA, JUST BEFORE 4 YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED AND THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE PLANE.

THE MAQUOKETA EDUCATION ASSOCIATION WILL HOST A CANDIDATE FORUM FOR CANDIDATES FOR THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD, AT 5 P.M. THIS WEDNESDAY AT THE MAQUOKETA CITY HALL. THE SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES ARE INCUMBENT ANNE HAWKS AND CHALLENGER GEORGE HOUSTON. BOTH HAVE YARD SIGNS AROUND TOWN. AND THAT RACE IS STARTING TO GET INTERESTING.
ALSO RUNNING, FOR RE-ELECTION, UNOPPOSED, LONGTIME BOARD MEMBER,
BILL SCHWENKER.

A WELL KNOWN AREA VOLUNTEER FIREMAN, DICK GRIMM, AGE 73, OF CHARLOTTE,
DIED YESTERDAY. HE WAS A FIREFIGHTER FOR 50 YEARS.

ANOTHER SAD NOTE. A MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR, DEREK ARENSDORF, AGE 17, DIED LAST NIGHT AT HIS HOME IN RURAL BALDWIN. HIS COMPLETED OBITUARY CAN BE READ NOW AT www.carsonandson.com

TOMORROW IS THE OFFICIAL 50TH BIRTHDAY OF KMAQ. MORE ABOUT THAT WITH THE PHOTO BELOW.

AND SEVERAL OTHER PHOTOS FROM THE SUNDAY, FIRST LUTHERAN OUTDOOR SERVICE AND POTLUCK, ARE ALSO BELOW.

REMEMBER...ALL PHOTOS ON THIS DAILY REPORT CAN BE ENLARGED BY JUST CLICKING ON THEM.

HAVE A NICE MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY.
