SUNNY, WINDY AND COOL TODAY. TONIGHT, MIGHT GET DOWN
TO THE TEENS.

VOTING IS GOING ON IN MAQUOKETA. NOT ONLY ARE VOTERS CASTING THEIR VOTE FOR MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS, RESIDENTS ARE ALSO BEING ASKED TO APPROVE AN INCREASE IN THE CITY'S MOTEL HOTEL TAX. THE PROPOSAL ON THE BALLOT CALLS FOR THE LODGING TAX TO INCREASE FROM THE CURRENT 5 PERCENT TO 7 PERCENT. THE PROPOSED RATE IS THE HIGHEST ALLOWED BY STATE LAW AND WOULD RAISE A MOTEL BILL BY $1 ON A $50 A NIGHT ROOM. MAQUOKETA HAS FOUR LODGING FACILITIES.

NICK HELGERSON, CHRISTA BELLMAN, TERRY SKRIVSETH,
TONY PORTY, ERIC MEYER AND MILTON GONNER.....ALL HIT A DEER WITH THEIR VEHICLE FRIDAY NIGHT OR SATURDAY.

CHAD STRATHMAN, A LAWYER IN MINNEAPOLIS, PLAYS WITH A GROUP OF LAWYERS IN A BAND THAT PLAYS AT DIFFERENT PLACES IN THE TWIN CITIES. LAST YEAR, WHEN HIS WIFE
GOT REALLY SICK, HE WROTE A SONG FOR HER, THE BAND HE IS IN RECORDED IT...AND IT IS GETTING SOME PLAY ON RADIO IN THE TWIN CITIES. AND YOU CAN SEE A PICTURE OF THE BAND AND HEAR THE SONG AT www.cities97.com/cc-common/artist_submission/player.html IN THE PHOTO OF THE GROUP, CHAD IS IN A RED SHIRT AND STANDING ON THE LEFT. CHAD'S PARENTS ARE FRANK AND BARB STRATHMAN, OF BELLEVUE AND FORMERLY OF MAQUKETA. I BELIEVE CHAD GRADUATED FROM MCHS. I GAVE THE SONG A LISTEN.
IT'S GOOD!

NORTHEAST OF GOOSELAKE LOST THEIR SECOND PLAYOFF GAME LAST NIGHT AND TONIGHT DEWITT PLAYS AGAIN AGAINST KEOKUK. SHOULD BE A GOOD GAME. WE'LL HAVE IT ON KMAQ AM AND FM AT 7 TONIGHT, RIGHT AFTER OUR SPEICIAL AUCTION SHOW. LEIGHTON HEPKER AND MARK HILLEBRAND AT THE MIKES. AFTER THE GAME, WE'LL HAVE ELECTION COVERAGE. ALL THIS WEEK , FOR THE 4TH YEAR IN A ROW, WE ARE DOING A WEEK OF NIGHTIME AUCTION SHOWS, THRU THIS FRIDAY, STARTING AT 6:50 EACH NIGHT AND GOING FOR AN HOUR OR JUST OVER.

GOT A GOOD PICTURE WITH SOMEONE FROM MAQUOKETA IN IT? EMAIL IT TO ME AND I MIGHT PUT IT UP HERE ON THE REPORT.

BE SURE TO COME BACK TOMORROW TO FIND OUT WHO WON THE ELECTION.

DENNIS VOY
