SUNDAY, THE JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY HELD THEIR ANNUAL FUND RAISING DINNER AT THE FAIRGROUNDS
IN MAQUOKETA. GOOD TURNOUT AND GOOD FOOD ENJOYED BY HUNDREDS. DURING THE AFTERNOON, JIM CLARKE, THE FOUNDER OF GREEN ISLAND AND DR. FREDERICK SWIFT, SR. WERE BOTH INDUCTED INTO THE JACKSON COUNTY HALL OF FAME. AND, AFTER DINNER, MANY TOURED THE MUSEUM BEFORE LEAVING. AND MANY WENT TO THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE MUSEUM TO VIEW THE NEW GINGERBREAD HOMES
MADE FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON. THERE ARE 17 UPSTAIRS IN A BEAUTIFUL HOLIDAY DISPLAY AND ALL ARE OF A BUILDING IN JACKSON COUNTY THAT IS WAS TORN DOWN.
SHOWN HERE IS LAUREN STREETS OF RURAL MAQUOKETA.
SHE IS THE DAUGHTER OF CHRIS AND HER GRANDPARENTS ARE DENNIS AND JULIE STREETS. SHE IS ADMIRING THE GINGERBREAD HOME MADE BY GRANDMA JULIE OF THE MAPLE
GROVE SCHOOL THAT ONCE STOOD IN THE FULTON, IOWA AREA.
IN THE FUTURE, I'LL PUT UP HERE A PICTURE OF A FEW OTHER
OF THE HOMES FOR YOU TO SEE. BETTER YET, VISIT THE MUSEUM BETWEEN NOW AND CHRISTMAS AND SEE ALL 17
ON DISPLAY AND ALSO TAKE TIME TO BROWSE THE MUSEUM, WHICH IS ONE OF THE FINEST COUNTY MUSEUMS IN IOWA.
