HOT DAY TODAY...90...ONE DEGREE BELOW THE 1934 RECORD.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT.

THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL GIRL'S GOLF TEAM IS GOING TO THE STATE MEET NEXT WEEK. TODAY, THE GIRLS WON THE CLASS 3-A REGIONAL TOURNAMENT AT THE MANCHESTER GOLF CLUB, WITH A WINNING SCORE OF 385, THREE SHOTS BETTER THAN RUNNER-UP GRINNEL, WHO ALSO WILL GO TO STATE.
MAQUOKETA WAS LED BY JORDAN DAVIS WHO WAS THE TOURNAMENT MEDALIST WITH AN 83. ALSO FOR MAQUOKETA, KARA CLAR HAS A 96, HANNAH DAVISON A 101, AND NICKI GERLACH A 105. TODAY MARKED THE 4TH TIME THE MAQUOETA GIRLS HAVE PLAYED ON THE MANCHETER COURSE THIS YEAR. THE STATE MEET IS NEXT TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY AT THE OTTER CREEK COURSE IN ANKENY AND AT JESTER PARK IN GRIMES.

JACKSON COUNTY'S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN APRIL WAS 4.5.....DOWN FROM 5 PERCENT IN MARCH.

NO BIRTHS OR DEATHS OVER THE WEEKEND.
