THE 35TH ANNUAL TREK, SPONSORED BY THE DES MOINES REGISTER. CYCLISTS WILL SPEND THURSDAY NIGHT IN INDEPENDENCE AND FRIDAY NIGHT IN DYERSVILLE.
ALSO ON SATURDAY NIGHT, JULY 28TH.....SAWYER BROWN WILL BE AT THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR IN MAQUOKETA. THE COUNTRY GROUP HAS EXPERIENCED TREMENDOUS SUCCESS FOR TWO DECADES. THE NEWS OF SAWYER BROWN COMING TO MAQUOKETA WAS RELEASED LAST NIGHT
DURING A KICKOFF PARTY FOR PAST AND PROSPECTIVE 2007 JACKSON COUNTY FAIR SPONSORS. THIS YEAR, STOCK CAR RACING MOVES TO THURSDAY NIGHT DURING FAIR WEEK.
DOGS CAN NOT BARK IN MAQUOKETA. DAVID HORNER OF MAQUOKETA IS SCHEDULED TO APPEAR IN MAGISTRATES COURT ON A CHARGE OF ALLOWING HIS DOGS TO BARK. HORNER HAD BEEN GIVEN TWO PRIOR
WARNINGS BEFORE THE CHARGE WAS FILED.
TWO MID-DAY PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED FOR THE MAIN STAGE AT TH IS YEAR'S KMAQ FARM AND HOME SHOW, FEBRUARY 8TH AND 9TH AT THE FAIRGROUNDS. BOB BOWMAN, OF RURAL DEWITT, THE PRESIDENT OF THE IOWA CORN GROWERS ASSOCIATION, WILL SPEAK AT 12:15 ON THURSDAY. THE THREE ANNUAL AG AWARDS, INCLUDING FARMER OF THE YEAR, WILL BE GIVEN OUT AFTER BOWAMN SPEAKS. THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND MAQUOKETA ROTARY SPONSORS THE AWARDS. AND, THE GUEST SPEAKER AT THE FARM SHOW FRIDAY WILL BE AARON PUTZE, DIRECTOR OF THE COALITION TO SUPPORT IOWA FARMERS. HE WILL ADDRESS THE ASSEMBLY ON CURRENT FARM ISSUES. THE FARM SHOW IS FREE BOTH DAYS. OVER 50 EXHIBITORS HAVE ALREADY SIGNED UP TO HAVE A BOOTH AT THE SHOW.
THIS YEAR, KMAQ TRAVEL IS GOING TO BRANSON(TWICE), NASHVILLE(TWICE), ST. LOUIS(TWICE), MILWAUKEE, SPRINGFIELD, DECATUR, MACKINAW ISLAND, AND MAYBE CHICAGO.
