THE MAQUOKETA BOYS AND GIRLS TEAMS BOTH LOST TO WEST DELAWARE OF MANCHESTER LAST NIGHT. THE BOYS BY JUST A FEW POINTS AND THE GIRLS BY A BUNCH OF POINTS.
THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNUAL BREAKFAST WAS HELD YESTERDAY WITH JUST 57 ATTENDING. PRESIDENT RICK PRULL
GAVE THE WELCOME AND AWARDS WERE PRESENTED. THE PRESIDENT'S AWARD WENT TO THE MAQUOKETA MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC UTILITY BOARD AND EMPLOYEES FOR ALL THE WORK THEY DO FOR THE CHAMBER, ESPECIALLY AT CHRISTMAS TIME. CHAMBER DIRECTOR STACEY DRISCOLL HANDED OUT TWO AWARDS, ONE TO FORMER DIRECTOR, LINDA STURTZ-PICKUP AND THE OTHER TO OUTGOING PRESIDENT
PRULL. NEW BOARD MEMBERS ARE MARLA FRANZEN OF MAQUOKETA STATE BANK, BILL WATERS, HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL, AND MIKE DONNLEY,PLANT MANAGER AT GENERAC. COMMITTEE REPORTS WERE GIVEN AND LOOKING AHEAD TO 2007....A NEW WEB SITE IS PLANNED AND AN INCENTIVE MEMBERSHIP DRIVE. LONGTIME DIRECTOR ASSISTANT CHERYL CLARK WAS RECOGNIZED FOR 15 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CHAMBER. THE NEW PRESIDENT IS DON SCHWENKER, A MAQUOKETA CHIROPRACTOR.
CITIZENS OF MAQUOKETA WILL BE GOING TO THE POLLS IN MARCH TO VOTE YES OR NO ON A $2 MILLION DOLLAR GO BOND ISSUE FOR THE CITY TO ADD ON TO THE FIRE STATION.
