THE JACKSON COUNTY DEMOCRATS ARE CALLING A SPECIAL MEETING
FOR THIS MONDAY NIGHT AT THE LIBRARY IN MAQUOKETA FOR THE PURPOSE OF NOMINATING SOMEONE TO BE THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE
ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT FOR JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISOR.
THE SEAT HELD FOR MANY YEARS BY REPUBLICAN JACK WILLEY IS UP FOR ELECTION THIS YEAR. WILLEY IS SEEKING RE-ELECTION TO ANOTHER TERM.
NO DEMOCRAT FILED PETITION PAPERS BEFORE THE DEADLINE FOR THE POSITION. HOWEVER, BY LAW, SOMEONE CAN BE NOMINATED BY A COUNTY CONVENTION MEETING. AND, UP FOR CONSIDERATION MONDAY NIGHT, TWO DEMOCRATS WHO HAVE INDICATED THEY WOULD RUN FOR THE SEAT AS AN OFFICIAL CANDIDATE IF ELECTED AT THE SPECIAL DEMOCRATIC MEETING. ONE IS JACK ROSENBERG, MAQUOKETA BUSINESSMAN (OWNS JR'S WINE AND SPIRITS) AND PAST MAYOR OF MAQUOKETA AND PAST MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCILMAN. ALSO INTERESTED IN RUNNING, PAUL HAHLE, ALSO A MAQUOKETA BUSINESSMAN (OWNER OF THE OLD LUMBER YARD) AND A CURRENT MEMBER OF THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL. I'LL LET YOU KNOW TUESDAY WHO WON THE MONDAY NIGHT BALLOT.
LOTS OF POLITICIANS WERE IN THE PARADE LAST NIGHT.
KEEP COOL.
