MAQUOKETA SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT KIM HUCKSTADT WAS GIVEN ANOTHER 3-YEAR CONTRACT AND A RAISE BY BOARD MEMBERS LAST NIGHT. BOARD MEMBERS SPENT MORE THAN AN HOUR IN CLOSED SESSION WITH HUCKSTADT TO DO HIS YEARLY EVAULATION. THERE WERE NO COMMENTS MADE AFTER THE CLOSED MEETING. IN THE OPEN MEETING AFTER, HE WAS GIVEN A PAY RAISE OF $3,083, RAISING HIS ANNUAL SALARY TO $103,083. THE RAISE WAS THE SAME AMOUNT GIVEN OTHER ADMINISTRATORS. THIS IS HUCKSTADT'S 5TH YEAR AS SUPERINTENDENT.
THERE IS ONLY ONE POSITION OPEN ON THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD FOR THIS FALL'S ELECTION. THE DISTRICT 1 SEAT WILL BE UP, NOW HELD BY BRIAN TABOR OF BALDWIN. THE AREA INCLUDES THE WESTERN PORTION OF THE DISTRICT. TABOR SAID LAST NIGHT HE HAD NOT DECIDED WHETHER TO SEEK RE-ELECTION.
