BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND WEATHER IN MAQUOKETA. PERFECT FOR GRADUATION PARTIES. TODAY, DRY, SUNNY AND IN THE UPPER 80'S.
WE NEED SOME RAIN AND THERE IS RAIN IN THE FORECAST TONIGHT, TOMORROW AND TOMORROW NIGHT.

THE 128TH ANNUAL COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES WERE HELD YESTERDAY AFTERNOON FOR THE MCHS SENIORS. NEW FIGURES.
153 SENIORS WERE PART OF THE GRADUATING CLASS AND 140 OF THOSE ACTUALLY WALKED ACROSS THE STAGE TO RECEIVE THEIR DIPLOMA.
THE TWO CO-SALUTATORIANS WITH A 3.98 GRADE POINT AVERAGE WERE BRITA KILBURG AND NOAH JENSEN-TABOR. THERE WERE 6 VALDECTORIANS WITH PERFERT 4.0 G.P.A'S. THEY WERE ANGELYN BOCK, DREW BURMAHL, SLOAN FELTEN, TYLER GONNSEN, JILL SCHWEINKER, ANDDD HEATHER WHITE. SENIOR SPEAKERS WERE KYRSTIN DELAGARDELLE AND TYLER GONNSEN.

DUANE AND DOROTHEA MILLER OF MAQUOKETA CELEBRATED THEIR 65TH WEDDING ANNIVERARY JUNE 1ST.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT. A FEW ITEMS ON THE AGENDA:
THE WORK TO RE-DO THE RUNWAY AT AIRPORT.....THE PROPOSED ADDITION TO OR NEW FIRE STATION.....THE ARC AND ISSUING OF UP TO $2 MILLION IN REVENUE BONDS, WITH AN INCREASE AS RECOMENDED BY THE BONDING ATTORNEY .....A RECOMMENDATION TO KEEP QUARRY AND MAIN STREET INTERESECTION WITH STOP SIGNS AND NOT REPAIR THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS.....AND THEY WILL TALK ON WHETHER THE LOCAL CABLE TV CHANNEL SHOULD COVER THE MARK WILLEY TRIAL AS PLANNED.

NO BIRTHS OR DEATHS OVER THE WEEKEND.
