THE RECORDER, TREASURER, AND TWO SUPERVIORS. JC ENGEL HAS ANNOUNED HE WILL NOT RUN AGAIN AND JACK WILLEY SAID HE WILL. STEVE FLYNN, DEMOCRAT FROM RURAL MAQUOKETA, HAS ALSO ANNOUNCED HE WILL RUN.
THERE MAY BE OTHER CANDIDATES. THE DEADLINE TO TO FILE IS MARCH 29TH.
PETITIONS WITH 458 NAMES WERE TURNED IN TO THE MAQUOKETA CITY HALL YESTERDAY, REQUESTING A SPECIAL ELECTION THAT WOULD ASK THE CITY COUNCIL NOT TO ISSUE $2 MILLION IN BONDS TO BUILD THE ARC.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE WILL RECOMEND TO THE ENTIRE COUNCIL THAT A NEW ORDIANCE BE PASSED REQUIRING ALL ANIMALS IN THE CITY TO BE LICENSED, AT $5 A YEAR OR $1 FOR SENIORS.
DOROTHY PETERSEN, 87, OF CLINTON, DIED SUNDAY AT THE WESTWING PLACE IN DEWITT. SURVIVORS INCLUDE 4 DAUGHTERS, INCLUDING JOYCE BENNIS OF DELMAR, CAROL CAIN OF DELMAR AND MYRNA TUBBS OF DEWITT.
KRISTOPHER WILHELM, 18, OF MAQUOKETA DIED IN A CAR ACCIDENT YESTERDAY AT THE EDGE OF MAQUOKETA. HE WAS A 2005 GRAD OF MAQUOKETA HIGH.
