BEAUTIFUL DAY TODAY..HIGH OF 73. NICE WEATHER EXPECTED FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY TOO.

FIRST STOCK CAR RACES OF THE SEASON TOMORROW NIGHT AT THE FAIRGROUNDS. ONCE AGAIN, THE RACING PROMOTOR IS BOB WAGENER OF MAQUOKETA. HIS PARENTS ARE JOHN AND ANN WAGENER AND JOHN IS STILL IN BUSINESS IN MAQUOKETA AS OWNER OF THE LOCAL RADIO SHACK STORE, OUT NEAR WAL MART. JOHN ANN JUST RECENTLY RETURNED FROM WINTERING IN FLORIDA. THEIR MANAGER OF THE STORE HERE IN TOWN IS CARRIE DAVISON. JOHN FOR MANY YEARS WAS THE
JOHN WAGENER FORD, FIRST IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA WHERE THE FAREWAY STORE IS NOW AND THEN LATER ON EAST PLATT STREET. THAT BUILDING IS NOW THE HOME OF A LOCAL INDUSTRY.

A BELLEVUE DENTIST, DR. PETER PAULY SAID A SKULL FOUND IN MISSOURI HAS THE EXACT DENTAL PATTERN OF GREG MAY. THE TESTIMONY CAME TODAY DURING THE TRIAL OF DOUGLAS DEBRUIN WHO IS ACCUSSED OF DISMEMBERING GREG MAY AND DUMPING HIS BODY PARTS IN THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER. A SKULL WAS FOUND ENCASED IN CONCRETE IN KEARNEY, MISSOURI. THE TRIAL RECESSED EARLY TODAY AND THE FINAL WITNESS FOR THE STATE CAN'T DO SO UNTIL TUESDAY, SO THE TRIAL WILL RESUME THEN. THE JURY VERDICT COULD BE REACHED BY NEXT FRIDAY. IT IS GETTING LOTS OF NEWSPAPER AND RADIO AND TV COVERAGE. AND THE QUICKEST REPORTS ARE HEARD ON KMAQ AS NEWS DIRECTOR SHERI MELVOLD IS AT THE TRIAL AND FILES HER REPORTS QUICKLY ON KMAQ.
THE QUAD CITY TIMES ALSO USES HER STORIES AND THIS MORNING, IT WAS, IN BIG HEADLINES, THE TOP STORY ON FRONT PAGE. YESTERDAY, THE JURY WAS TOLD HOW DEBRUIN AND WOMAN FRIEND CUT UP HER BODY PARTS....HE WITH A CHAINSAW AND SHE WITH A KNIFE HE GAVE HER TO USE.
THE WOMAN IS IN A STATE PRISON AND WAS BROUGHT FROM JAIL TO TESTIFY.

THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS GOLF TEAM, STATE CHAMPS LAST YEAR, IS DOING WELL AGAIN THIS YEAR.
YESTERDAY, THEY TOOK FIRST PLACE IN A 10-TEAM MEET.

THE WELTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (ONCE WAS A K-12 SCHOOL) CLOSES AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.
THIS YEAR, 173 STUDENTS ATTEND IT AND 172 OF THOSE ARE BUSED IN DAILY. ANOTHER TOWN IN IOWA LOOSES ITS SCHOOL.

A WELL KNOWN MAQUOKETA BUSINESSMAN DIED FROM AN ACCIDENT IN HIS HOME THIS MORNING.
BUT, HIS NAME IS NOT BEING ANNOUNCED UNTIL ALL NEXT OF KIN ARE CONTACTED. DETAILS ON
MONDAY'S REPORT.

KMAQ TRAVEL, (I'll be the host) HAS A BUS GOING TO THE ST. LOUIS CARDINALS - BREWERS GAME IN MILWAUKEE TOMORROW. WE ALSO HAVE A BUS GOING TO THE CUBS-BREWERS GAMES ON MAY 5TH AND TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR IT. TOMORROW'S BUS IS FULL.

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND.

THE KMAQ GUEST BOOK IS DOWN. WE THINK MAYBE THE COMPANY THAT HOSTS THESE GUEST BOOKS HAS GONE OUT OF BUSINESS. IN THAT CASE, WE WILL BE LOOKING AT A DIFFERENT WEB COMPANY TO HOST THE KMAQ GUEST BOOK. MORE ON THIS NEXT WEEK.

TAKE CARE.

DENNIS VOY.
