NICE WEEKEND...AND TODAY WAS MOSTLY SUNNY WITH A HIGH IN THE UPPER 40'S
THE FORECAST IS CALLING FOR A HIGH THURSDAY OF 38 WITH SNOW FLURRIES.

A MAQUOKETA WOMAN, BETTY LOU BAUER, AGE 75, WAS KILLED IN A TWO CAR ACCIDENT YESTERDAY MORNING NEAR SABULA. SHE HAD WORKED UNTIL RETIRING IN 2002 AT ENSIGN COIL IN BELLEVUE.
NO SURVIVORS IN MAQUOKETA.

AT THE ANNUAL HISTORICAL SOCIETY HARVEST DINNER YESTERDAY AT THE FAIRGROUNDS IN MAQUOKETA, THREE MEN WERE INDUCTED INTO THE JACKSON COUNTY HALL OF FAME....AN 1840'S MINISTER, OLIVER EMERSON WHO LIVED IN PRESTON AND THEN SABULA. ALSO INDUCTED, GIL STROMEYER, WHO DIED IN HIS EARLY 90'S AND HAD LIVED IN PRESTON AND HAD HIS OWN POPULAR BAND. AND ALSO INDUCTED, LONGTIME EXTENSION DIRECTOR, JOHN HENDERSON, WHO DIED
FOUR YEARS AGO.
