88 TODAY, A NEW RECORD. OLD RECORD OF 85 SET IN 1896 IN MAQUOKETA.

FAITH COMMUNITY CHURCH ON SUMMIT STREET NEAR THE HIGH SCHOOL, HAS STARTED WORK ON A TWO STORY MULTI-PURPOSE ADDITION TO THE CHURCH.

DENNIS KLOFT, 50, OF MAQUOKETA DIED THIS MORNING AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL AFTER A LONG BATTLE WITH CANCER. HE WORKED AT CATAPILAR PLANTS IN THE QUAD CITIES AND PONTIAC, ILLINOIS AND RETIRED IN 2003. HE IS SURVIVED BY 2 SONS, JASON OF CEDAR RAPIDS AND RYAN OF BELLEVUE, HIS MOTHER MARIAN OF MAQUOKETA AND 4 BROTHERS...DAVID, DARWIN, AND DUANE OF MAQUOKETA AND DEAN OF DELMAR.

MAQUOKETA'S 4-TIME STATE MEDALIST DANE PAPE WILL WRESTLE IN COLLEGE AT IOWA, FULLFILLING A DREAM OF HIS. HIS BROTHER COLE ALSO WRESTLES FOR THE HAWKEYES AND IS A JUNIOR.

HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY TODAY TO MAXINE O'CONNELL OF MAQUOKETA. SHE HAS 8 CHILDREN AND 21 GRANDCHILDREN.

HAPPY 49TH ANNIVERSARY TODAY TO RON AND SHIRLEY MILLER IN MESA, ARIZONA.
