IT IS SNOWING HARD IN MAQUOKETA. STARTED ABOUT 6 P.M. SHOULD STOP BY
HOPEFULLY 6 TOMORROW MORNING. EXPECTING ABOUT 5 INCHES.

FIRST DAY OF 2-DAY KMAQ FARM AND HOME SHOW WENT WELL. BIG CROWD OVER NOON HOUR. EVENING CROWD DOWN BECAUSE OF WEATHER.
STILL, ATTENDANCE OF AROUND 1,500 FOR THE DAY.

THE 15TH ANNUAL AG AWARDS WERE PRESENTED AT NOON, SPONSORED BY THE AG COMMITTEE OF THE MAQUOKETA AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB. ROTARIAN WARREN ROBERTS PRESENTED THE AG BUSINESS AWARD TO DEAN ENGEL, WHO WORKS AT THE MAQUOKETA STATE BANK. BRIAN SCHWAGER, REPRESENTING THE CHAMBER, PRESENTED THE PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD TO DARCY KEIL OF THE JACKSON COUNTY N.R.C.S. CONSERVATION OFFICE AND
MARGARET MCCARTHY, ALSO REPRESENTING THE CHAMBER, PRESENTED THE
FARMER OF THE YEAR AWARD TO TWO COUPLES WHO ARE RELATED, CHUCK AND CHRIS CORNELIUS AND LESTER AND NANCY JOHNSON. CHUCK AND NANCY ARE BROTHER AND SISTER. THE FOUR WORK TOGETHER IN FARMING AND ALSO RUN CORNELIUS SEED CORN COMPANY. I HOPE I HAVE THIS RIGHT. AND CONGRATULATIONS TO THE
6 WINNERS. I'M PRETTY SURE MORE PICTURES ON THE AG AWARDS WILL BE UP ON THE ROTARY WEB SITE SOMETIME TOMORROW...AT www.maquoketa-rotary.org
