SPORTS FIRST: THE MAQUOKETA CARDINAL GIRLS LOST THEIR TOURNAMENT GAME SATURDAY NIGHT AT DUBUQUE, BY ABOUT 15 POINTS, TO DUBUQUE WAHLERT. THEY HAVE NOW FINISHED THEIR SEASON AND IT WAS A GOOD ONE.

TWO OF THE SIX WRESTLERS THAT WRESTLED IN THE 2-A DISTRICT AT ANAMOSA SATURDAY WILL GO ON TO THE STATE WRESTLING TOURNAMENT THIS WEEK AT DES MOINES. CHRIS HAHN, A SENIOR, AT 145 POUNDS, WILL WRESTLE WEDNESDAY NIGHT AGAINST A SOPHOMORE FROM SPIRIT LAKE PARK. HAHN'S RECORD IS 31 AND 6 AND CLARK'S RECORD, 40 AND 2. ALSO GOING TO STATE FROM MAQUOKETA, SENIOR DANE PAPE, AT 215, WITH A RECORD OF 36 AND 1. HE WILL WRESTLE A SENIOR FROM SOUTH TAMA WEDNESDAY NIGHT, WHOSE RECORD IS 31 AND 6.
ALSO IN 2-A WEDNESDAY, WILL BE TWO WRESTLERS FROM DEWITT CENTRAL AND TWO FROM NORTHEAST IN GOOSE LAKE. DR. PAUL KOOB OF MAQUOKETA WILL COVER ALL 6 WRESTLERS AT THE TOURNAMENT, STARTING HIS HOLD-BY-HOLD BROADCAST AT 6:30 WEDNESDAY NIGHT ON KMAQ-FM.

A WOMAN WHO WAS BORN IN MAQUOKETA WAS MURDERED FRIDAY AFTERNOON IN SAVANNA. SHE WAS FOUND IN HER KITCHEN IN A POOL OF BLOOD, BY HER DAUGHTER AFTER COMING HOME FROM SCHOOL. SHE IS THERESA SALGADO, AGE 37. SAVANNA POLICE HAVE ISSUED AN ARREST WARRANT FOR HER HUSBAND, ANTONIO, AND HAVE ALSO ASKED THE PUBLIC TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR HER MISSING CAR, A 1992 GRAY FOUR DOOR BUICK REGAL, WITH ILLINOIS LICENSE NUMBER 5060468 AND WITH A DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW BROKEN OUT, PROBABLY CARDBOARDED UP.
THERESA LYNN SALGADO IS SURVIVED BY 3 CHILDREN, AND HER FATHER AND STEP-MOTHER, KEN AND CAROLYN DEMOSS, SR. OF CHARLOTTE AND HER MOTHER, TOMMYE LYNN DEMOSS OF CLINTON. ALSO A SISTER, CHRISTINA RALSTON OF MONMOUTH, IOWA AND A BROTHER, KENNETH DEMOSS, JR. OF SAVANNA. SHE WORKED AS A COOK AT THE SAVANNA HOSPITAL. WHEN NEIGHBORS ENTERED THE HOME FRIDAY AFTERNOON, THE FOUND SALGADO LYING DEAD IN A POOL OF BLOOD, WITH AT LEASE 3 KNIVES NEXT TO HER BODY, LYING ON THE FLOOR.

A GIRL WAS BORN FEBRUARY 19TH TO JEREMIAH AND MISTY WIESE OF MAQUOKETA, AT THE JACKSON COUNTY PUBLIC HOSPITAL. GRANDPARENTS ARE FORMER MAQUOKETA RESIDENTS, BOB AND CATHY WIESE OF SPRAGUEVILLE.
