MINOR ACCIDENT JUST BEFORE 6 THIS MORNING....ONE DRIVER, LEROY ANDERSON, AGE 61, OF MAQUOKETA, AND OTHER DRIVER, EVERETT SEATS,AGE 37, OF CLINTON. JUST NORTH OF MAQUOKETA, SEATS REAR-ENDED ANDERSON'S CAR...NO INJURIES.
ANOTHER MINOR ACCIDENT THIS MORNING RESULTED IN LARRY EDWARDS, AGE 58, OF MAQUOKETA, BEING CHARGED FOR FAILURE TO YIELD. BECAUSE OF FROSTED WINDSHIELD, EDWARDS DIDN'T SEE CAR DRIVEN BY ROBERT EVERDING, AGE 58, OF MAQUOKETA. LITTLE DAMAGE FROM THE COLLISION.
BREAKIN AT KFC RESTAURANT TUESDAY NIGHT. THIEFS PRYED OPEN THE NORTH DOOR, AND THEN GOT INTO THE OFFICE AND TOOK MONEY AND THE CASH REGISTER DRAWER. AMOUNT NOT ON THE POLICE BLOTTER. KFC OWNED BY WEAVER CHAIN OF KFC'S.
CHESTER "BUTCH" PETIT DIED WEDNESDAY FOLLOWING A BATTLE WITH CANCER. HE WAS 58. HAD BEEN A BRICKLAYER FOR OVER 30 YEARS. SURVIVORS INCLUDE A DAUGHTER, ANGELA OF DUBUQUE, AND HIS FORMER WIFE, BRENDA PETIT OF MAQUOKETA. ALSO TWO SISTERS.
CHECKING THE OTHER DAY, AND THE FIRST DAY I DID THIS DAILY REPORT WAS JUNE 9TH OF 1997. LONG TIME.
EVERY ONE CAN BE BROUGHT UP IN A MINUTE OR SO...THEY ARE ALL HERE, BY YEARS, ON THE KMAQ WEB SITE.
HEARD TODAY THAT DR. BROMAN IS BACK IN THE HOSPITAL AT IOWA CITY AND ALSO THAT JOHN FAGERLAND FELL CHRISTMAS EVE AND BROKE A LEG.
JERRY MAPLES AND HIS WIFE ARE VISITING MAQUOKETA. SAW THEM AT CHURCH CHRISTMAS EVE. THEY LIVE IN PHOENIX AND HE IS ACTIVELY WORKING AS AN ARTIST. HAS ENJOYING PAINTING FOR MANY YEARS, EVEN BACK WHEN HE WAS THE PRESIDENT OF THE JACKSON STATE SAVINGS BANK.
DELIVERING MEALS ON WHEELS AND TOOK A MEAL TO CLAUDE BECK, FORMER KMAQ SALESMAN AND LIFELONG RESIDENT OF MAQUOKETA. HE LIVES ALONE, AND SELDOM LEAVES THE HOUSE. SON MARK CHECKS ON HIM 3 TIMES A DAY.
ALSO DELIVERED A MEAL TO SHERRY SOKOL. SHE SEEMS TO BE DOING WELL. PRETTY PROUD OF HER HOUSE DOG...ALSO KIND OF A WATCH DOG AS HE WAS LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW AND BARKED AS I WALKED UP THE FRONT STEPS.
GOING UP TO HORICON, WISCONSIN TOMORROW TO VISIT MY BROTHER...AND A FEW OTHER RELATIVES. BEEN WELL OVER A YEAR SINCE I VISITED THE LITTLE TOWN, THAT HAS A JOHN DEERE PLANT THAT MAKES THE JOHN DEERE GARDEN TRACTORS.
