ROBERT AND BONNIE CHRISTENSEN, FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA AND NOW
LIVING IN MARSHALLTOWN, HAD GOOD NEWS TODAY. THEIR SON ROB
WON THE SUPER SENIOR DIVISION, SHOOTING 4 OVER PAR.
NOW..A LOOK AT THE PAST....
RON DELAGARDELLE HAD A SMALL SPEAKING PART
IN THE MOVIE. DURWOOD GOHLMAN ALSO OF
MAQUOKETA APPEARED IN THE MOVIE TOO. AND SO,
WE HAD A LOCAL PREMIER OF IT AT THE VOY THEATRE.
A GALA NIGHT IT WAS.
38 YEARS AGO, THE ABOVE BRIDGE OPENED. IT WAS
MY SECOND YEAR AS A D.O.T. COMMISSIONER AND
I WAS THERE ON THE BRIDGE FOR THE DEDICATION. THEN SENATOR RICH NORPEL OF BELLEVUE CUT THE RIBBON. RICH WAS INSTRAMENTAL IN GETTING IT BUILDT. MANY THOUGHT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN
NAMED AFTER HIM.
SEVERAL YEARS LATER, "FIELD OF DREAMS"
WAS FILMED IN DYERSVILLE AND AREA. THE FIELD
IS THERE AND MOST OF YOU HAVE VISITED IT.
REMEMBER, TO ENLARGE THE 3 STORIES ABOVE,
JUST CLICK-ON THEM.
THIS HUGE MACHINE WAS IN MAQUOKETA MONDAY AND TUESDAY TO "MULCH UP" THE BIG PILE OF
BRUSH AT THE CITY SITE. AND THE CHIPS WERE
HAULED AWAY.
TODAY IS NATIONAL DOG DAY. KIPP IS GETTING OLD
BUT STILL MANAGES TO STAY ON-THE-GO WITH DAVE.
