THURSDAY DAILY

ON RIGHT, NEW COMMANDER OF THE AMERICAN LEGION POST 75,  KENNETH L.
WEIMERSKIRCH.    HE WAS ELECTED LAST NIGHT AT THE MONTHLY MEETING AT THE EAGLES CLUB.   IN CENTER, MAQUOKETA POSTMASTER BOB WINEGAR, ELECTED
VICE-COMMANDER.   AT LEFT JERRY WEIS WHO ENDS HIS 5TH TERM AS COMMANDER ON JUNE 30TH, A LOCAL RECORD OF COMMANDER SERVICE.
KENNETH L. WEIMERSKIRCH LIVES ON HIGHWAY 64 WEST AND IS A RETIRED
RAILROAD MAN.    HE SERVED DURING THE VIET  NAM WAR IN THAILAND, FROM
1966 TO 1970.   THEN SERVED IN THE NATIONAL GUARD FROM 1978 UNTIL 1995.
COMMANDER WEIS PRESENTED ADJUTANT MERRICK WITH HIS 50-YEAR PLAQUE.   THE  NATIONAL AMERICAN LEGION IS 101 YEARS OLD AND CLIFF STARTED AS A MEMBER HERE IN MAQUOKETA 50 YEARS AGO AND HAS BEEN VERY ACTIVE LOCALLY AND IN THE DISTRICT,  HOLDING SEVERAL OFFICES OVER THE YEARS.    HE SERVED IN VIET NAM.
THERE WERE 13 MEMBERS AT THE MEETING LAST NIGHT, A GOOD TURNOUT.
NOT SHOWN, MERRICK, WEIS, AND I'M A MEMBER AND  TOOK PHOTOGRAPH.
NEARLY 100 BELONG TO POST 75.    ANYONE THAT HAS EVER SERVED IN THE
U.S. MILITARY CAN JOIN.
