THE DELMAR LIONS HAD ANOTHER LABOR DAY WEEKEND CAR SHOW YESTERDAY AT THE PARK IN DELMAR. THE RAIN HELD OFF FOR MOST OF IT, AND THERE WAS A VERY NICE DISPLAY OF CARS, PICKUPS AND FARM TRACTORS. GOOD FOOD TOO. THANKS TO THE DELMAR LIONS FOR DOING THIS EVERY SUNDAY DURING LABOR DAY WEEKEND. THE CAR ABOVE WAS SHOWN J. D. DAUGHERTY OF FULTON, ILLINOIS. HE'S A RETIRED FIREFIGHTER FROM DALLAS, AND SPENDS TIME BETWEEN DALLAS AND FULTON. THIS CAR IS A 2016 CORVETTE THAT HE BOUGHT FOR $130,000. IT'S A BEAUTY. TEFLON COATED SO ALWAYS LOOKS GREAT.
IT IS A C-7 AND THERE WERE ONLY 10 MADE AND WITH A CONNECTION HE HAD,
HE WAS ABLE TO BID ON ONE OF THE 10 AND GOT TO BUY ONE. IT IS ALREADY WORTH $160,000 AND HE FIGURES BY THE YEAR 2020, WILL BE WORTH $200,000.
IT HAS A 700 HP MOTOR AND CAN DO 0 TO 60 IN THREE SECONDS. GETS ABOUT
28 PER GALLON. HAS EXTRA CAMERAS TO HELP PREVENT TOUCHING A VEHICLE AROUND. I FORGOT TO ASK HIM WHAT HE PAYS IN LICENSE, AND INSURANCE.
THE ABOVE CAR IS A LOCAL ONE, OWNED BY LLOYD NABB OF MAQUOKETA.
IT IS A 19051 HENRY J. THEY MADE HENRY J'S IN 1949, 1950 AND 1951.
THEN SOLD OUT TO SEARS, AND WERE MADE FOR 3 MORE YEARS. LLOYD
FOUND THIS CAR, IN VERY BAD SHAPE, IN A JUNKYARD AT BRANSON. HE
HAS WORKED 10 YEARS TO GET IT TO LOOK LIKE THIS. HE ALSO COMPLETELY
DONE THE INTERIOR. BEAUTIFUL CAR. NICE GOING LLOYD.
IT IS FALL TIME ....ALMOST.
PROBLEM IS..... WE HAVE HAD TOO MUCH RAIN.
THIS WEEKEND, ALREADY 3 INCHES BY THIS MORNING IN MAQUOKETA AREA AND MORE ON THE WAY TODAY.
FLOODING IS FEARED ON THE MAQUOKETA RIVER.
MORE WORRY FOR FARMERS, ALREADY HAVING A BAD YEAR IN PRICES.
TUESDAY, MAY BE RAIN FREE....BUT MORE LATER IN WEEK.
LABOR DAY WEEKEND IS GENERALLY A GOOD WEEKEND FOR MY
61 DRIVE-IN THEATRE...BUT THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST EVER.
HAPPY 98TH BIRTHDAY TODAY TO RED HENTON.
HE WAS ON-THE-AIR WITH ME THIS MORNING AND DID A GREAT JOB.
HAPPY LABOR DAY
DENNIS VOY
