THE BELLEVUE MARQUETTE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM IS IN THE STATE TOURNAMENT THIS WEEK AT WELLS FARGO ARENA IN DES MOINES. IT IS THEIR 6TH APPEARANCE IN THE HISTORY OF THE HIGH SCHOOL. MONDAY, THEY WILL PLAY AT 11:30 A.M. AGAINST KINGSLEY-PIERSON. A PEP RALLY WAS HELD SUNDAY MORNING IN THEIR GYM AT BELLEVUE. A BIG TURN
OUT TO SEND THEM OFF TO DES MOINES.
ABOVE, THE COACHES, TEAM, CHEERLEADERS, AND MANAGERS.

TEAM. SHE IS 6-1 AND HER OPPONENT MONDAY IS 6-2. SHE REVIEWED
THE SEASON IN A HUMOUROUS WAY. THERE ARE 2 OTHERS SENIORS...
A BUNCH OF JUNIORS AND ONE FRESHMAN.

JACKSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU GAVE A BASKETBALL TO EACH GIRL
AND EACH THEN AUTOGRAPHED THEIR OWN AND PASSED IT AROUND
SO THAT EACH BALL WOULD HAVE ALL OF THE TEAM SIGNATURES.
BELLEVUE MARQUETTE CATHOLIC WITH MOHAWK STRENGTH FROM ABOVE.
THE BASKETBALL COURT IS NAMED AFTER JIM SQUIERS, NOW RETIRED,
AND LONGTIME MOHAWK COACH, AND ONE OF IOWA'S WINNINGEST COACHES OF ALL TIME. HE WAS ALSO HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL FOR MANY
YEARS. HE COACHED THE LAST TEAM AT STATE...AND HE WILL BE IN
DES MOINES MONDAY I'M SURE.
FOR THOSE UNFAMILIAR WITH BELLEVUE, THE BEAUTIFUL SMALL JACKSON
COUNTY COMMUNITY, ALONG THE MIGHTY MISSISSIPPI RIVER, IS THE
HOME OF TWO K-12 HIGH SCHOOLS. COMET FANS WILL ALSO CHEER FOR
THE MOHAWKS MONDAY.
AND KMAQ WILL BE THERE FOR THOSE WHO CAN NOT ATTEND THE GAME IN PERSON. MATT CLARK WILL HAVE THE GAME ON KMAQ AM, FM AND ON
