PAVING OF EAST QUARRY WILL START MAY 30TH. THE QUARRY AND
2ND STREET AND QUARRY AND OLIVE STREET INTERSECTIONS ARE
EXPECTED TO BE OPEN BY JULY 18TH.
CREWS WILL PROBABLY PAVE THE SHORT STRETCH OF JAMES STREET
BETWEEN AND DECKER AND THE POST OFFICE FRIDAY. THERE WILL BE
A WIDER SIDEWALK ALONG THE NORTH SIDE OF THE DECKER HOTEL.
THE STREET WILL BE 29 FEET WIDE AND THERE WILL BE A RETAINING
WALL ERECTED ALONG THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE POST OFFICE LAWN.
IT WILL TAKE UP TO 7 DAYS FOR THE CEMENT TO CURE AND THEN
JAMES STREET WILL BE OPEN.
THE MAQUOKETA CLASS OF 2016 BACCALAUREATE SERVICE WENT WELL
LAST NIGHT WITH A GOOD ATTENDANCE AT THE METHODIST CHURCH.
IT FEATURED A GOOD MESSAGE BY PASTOR SWANSON AND GOOD
MUSIC BY HIGH SCHOOL SINGERS. YES..IT WAS A GOOD NIGHT.
WHILE IT WAS GOING ON, THERE WAS A THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR ALL OF CLINTON COUNTY.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL BROTHER-SISTER
DUO OF CAM AND TAYLOR THEDE. THE TWO GOLFERS BOTH EARNED
SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS AS A RESULT OF THEIR PLACINGS IN THE WAMAC SUPER CONFERENCE GOLF MEETS THIS WEEK.
MONDAY, CAM THEDE, A SENIOR, SHOT AN 81, WHICH PUT HIM IN A TIE FOR
11TH PLACE IN THE CONFERENCE. AND TUESDAY, SISTER TAYLOR THEDE,
A SOPHOMORE, CARDED A 99, GOOD FOR 12TH PLACE IN THE CONFERENCE.
GLEN MOHR, 76, OF WELTON DIED YESTERDAY AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
IN IOWA CITY. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE DIANA, 4 CHILDREN,
A SISTER, AND 2 BROTHERS, INCLUDING MARVIN MOHR OF MAQUOKETA.
THE FUNERAL IS NEXT TUESDAY AT THE SCHULTZ FUNERAL HOME IN
DEWITT,
