HIGHWAY 64 TO THE MAQUOKETA AIRPORT. THE F.A.A. WILL PAY 90%.
ANOTHER $95,000 WILL BE SPEND TO BURY OR LOWER POWER LINES
IN THE AREA, ALSO COVERED BY THE F.A.A.
THE COUNCIL ALSO AGREED TO SPEND $2,000 FOR A LARGE SIGN ON THE CITY INDUSTRIAL PARK SOUTH OF MAQUOKETA. THE SIGN WILL SAY
THAT 60 ACRES ARE FOR SALE FOR A NEW INDUSTRY FOR MAQUOKETA.
ON THE POLICE BLOTTER, BRIAN FRANZEN REPORTED HITTING A DEER ABOUT 2 MILES WEST OF MAQUOKETA.
AND JAMES GREGORY OF MAQUOKETA REPORTED THAT HE HAD SOME
CHECK STOLEN AND ONE HAD BEEN CASHED AT THE GAS STATION IN
BALDWIN.
ELLY McKEAN, AGE 99, OF ANAMOSA, DIED MONDAY AT HER HOME.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE FORMER STATE SENATOR FOR THIS AREA,
ANDY McKEAN. THE FUNERAL WILL BE HELD SATURDAY AT THE GOETTSCH
FUNERAL HOME IN ANAMOSA.A
MARY KOOS, AGE 91, OF LAMOTTE DIED TUESDAY AT MILL VALLEY CARE
IN BELLEVUE. THE FUNERAL WILL BE TUESDAY AT 10:30 A.M. AT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN BELLEVUE. VISITATION MONDAY AT HACHMANN FUNERAL HOME IN BELLEVUE. SURVIVORS INCLUDE 8 CHILDREN,
INCLUDING BRIDGET COSTELLO OF DELMAR, LINDA KOOS OF MAQUOKETA,
AND JOYCE KOHRT OF MAQUOKETA.
MILT GONNER DIED WEDNESDAY AT MILL VALLEY CARE CENTER IN BELLEVUE. SURVIVORS INCLUDE HIS WIFE AND 7 CHILDREN, INCLUDING
DOUG GONNER OF MAQUOKETA AND GARY GONNER OF MAQUOKETA.

A SIGN SAYING THE BUSINESS DOWN THERE WAS JOLES PLUMBING. IT
IS BELIEVED HE WAS THE FATHER OF HILMA JOLES, WHO WORKED FOR
MANY YEARS IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA.
