THE GUEST SPEAKER TODAY (ABOVE) WAS DR. PHIL REEMSTMA, PRESIDENT OF THE IOWA CATTLEMEN'S ASSOCIATION. HE IS A VET FROM DEWITT AND ENDS HIS TWO YEAR TERM THIS DECEMBER. HE GAVE A GOOD TALK
ON THE CATTLE INDUSTRY AND WHAT PART THE ASSOCIATION HAS WITH
IT ON A MONTH AFTER MONTH BASIS. A GOOD PRESENTATION WAS GIVEN.
LEIGHTON HEPKER TAPED AN INTERVIEW WITH HIM AND IT WILL BE ON KMAQ'S "JUST TALK" SHOW NEXT MONDAY AT 9:05 A.M.
TODAY THE "FRIENDS OF AGRICULTURE" WINNERS WERE ANNOUNCED
ON STAGE OVER THE NOON HOUR.

WAS THE "AGRI-BUSINESS PERSON" OF THE YEAR. SALLY DAVIES, PRESIDENT OF THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB, PRESENTED HIM WITH HIS PLAQUE.
ROTARY IS A CO-SPONSOR OF THE 3 AWARDS ALONG WITH THE AG
COMMITTEE OF THE MAQUOKETA AREA CHAMBER OR COMMERCE.
THE AGRI PUBLIC SERVICE PERSONS OF THE YEAR WERE MIKE AND JULIE
DELANEY OF RURAL LAMOTTE WHO OWN THE ALPACKA FARM AND
GIFT STORE ON THE BELLEVUE-CASCADE ROAD. AT RIGHT, MICHELLE
TURNER, REPRESENTING THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, PRESENTED THEM
WITH THEIR PLAQUE FOR THE DONATIONS THEY MAKE, PROGRAMS THEY
LEAD AND TOURS THEY GIVE REGARDING AGRICULTURE AND THEIR
ALPACA FARM.
ABOVE, CHARLIE SCHNECKLOTH, NOW RETIRED AND LIVING IN MAQUOKETA,
WAS NAMED "FARMER OF THE YEAR". EVERYONE IN THE CATTLE BUSINESS IN JACKSON COUNTY KNOWS CHARLIE. THIS IS INTERESTING!
WHEN IN HIS 20'S, HE WAS NAMED THE MAQUOKETA JAYCEE'S OUTSTANDING FARMER OF THE YEAR AND WHEN IN HIS 30'S, HE WAS PRESENTED THE
MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FARMER OF THE YEAR. THAT WAS EXACTLY 50 YEARS AGO. TODAY IN HIS 80'S HE WILL LOVES THE CATTLE BUSINESS AND YOU NEVER SEE HIM WITHOUT HIS HAT.
