MAQUOKETA POLICE WERE CALLED TODAY TO THE MAQUOKETA MIDDLE
SCHOOL AFTER AMMUNITION AS DISCOVERED IN THE GARBAGE
DUMPSTER. ACCORDING THE DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT CHRIS
HOOVER, POLICE SEARCHED THE SCHOOL BUILDING AS A PRECAUSTION,
BUT NOTHING WAS FOUND. MAQUOKETA POLICE REMOVED THE
AMMUNITION. HOW IT GOT THERE REMAINS A MYSTERY.
A MAQUOKETA FARMER WAS HONORED BY THE IOWA CATTLEMEN'S ASSOCIAITON. EVERY YEAR, THE ASSOCIATION RECOGNIZES AN
OUTSTANDING COMMERCIAL PRODUCER WHO CONTINUALLY GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MAKE THE BEEF INDUSTRY THE BEST IT CAN BE.
LARRY JOHNSON AND HIS WIFE MARY OPERATE JOHNSON FAMILY FARMS EAST OF MAQUOKETA. LARRY HAS SERVED A BOARD MEMBER AND VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE JACKSON COUNTY CATTLEMEN AND AS THE NORTHEAST REGIONAL VICE-PRESIDENT FOR THE IOWA CATTLEMEN'S
ASSOCIATION.
MAQUOKETA HAS A NEW CHURCH, THE CORNERSTONE ASSEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH IN THE CITADEL BUILDING AT HORSESHOE POND PARK. IT HELD ITS FIRST SERVICE ON SATURDAY, DEC. 5TH AT 6 P.M. IT WILL HAVE
A SERVICE EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT AT 6. IT IS BEING SPONSORED BY
THE DEWITT CHURCH AND ITS PASTOR CURTIS GIROD.
