WEDNESDAY DAILY REPORT

74 TODAY AND SUNNY...BEAUTIFUL DAY.
TOMORROW, SUNNY AND 78.
STILL A 50-PERCENT CHANCE OF RAIN FRIDAY.

57 YEARS  AGO TODAY, "VOLARE" WAS THE NUMBER ONE SONG IN THE
NATION BY DOMINICO MADUGNO.      I KNOW, BECAUSE I PLAYED IT
A COUPLE TIMES THAT DAY, KMAQ'S FIRST FULL DAY ON THE AIR.
TODAY, I GOT A COUPLE CARDS, EMAILS, SOME FLOWERS AND WELL WISHES ON THE ANNIVERSARY.    ON THE KMAQ HOME PAGE, CLICK-ON THE HISTORY
BUTTON FOR THE HISTORY OF KMAQ AND LOTS OF PHOTOS.    THERE IS
ANOTHER BUTTON WITH THE CURRENT KMAQ EMPLOYEES PICTURED.

JACKSON COUNTY TIED WITH DUBUQUE COUNTY FOR THE BIGGEST FALL IN UNEMPLOYMENT....WITH JACKSON COUNTY AT 3.5% IN JUNE AND DOWN TO 3.3% IN JULY AND ALSO BELOW THE 3.9% IN JULY OF LAST YEAR.
I SEE SOME HELP WANTED SIGNS AROUND TOWN.

AT THE RECENT COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD MEETING A CONTRACT WAS LET WITH  AN EAST DUBUQUE FIRM TO COMPLETE THE DESIGN FOR THE ROADWAY UTILITIES AND POND CONSTRUCTION FOR THE NEW PRAIRIE
CREEK PARK, AT A COST OF $64,000 FOR ENGINEERING.   ALSO, A FENCE BID OF $14,900 WAS APPROVED.  IT WILL BE A BOUNDARY FENCE AT PRAIRIE
CREEK.

PROGRESS IS BEING MADE IN THE HIRING OF JACKSON COUNTY'S FIRST
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SERVICE COORDINATOR.    THERE WERE 12 APPLICANTS....NARROWED DOWN TO 5 FOR PHONE INTERVIEWS AND
THE FINAL 3 WILL BE INTERVIEWED IN PERSON FOR THE $40,000 JOB.
THE PERSON WILL WORK WITH THE VOLUNTEERS IN THE AREA  FIRE
DEPARTMENTS, WHERE TRAINING IS REQUIRED.    FUNDING IS GOING TO BE PROVIDED BY THE SUPERVISORS, HOSPITAL AND SEVERAL FIRE
DEPARTMENTS.    THE SCREENING COMMITTEE RECOMENDS A PERSON
AND THE SUPERVISORS MAKE THE FINAL DECISION.

GOING OUT TO TABOR WINERY TONIGHT TO SEE HILLIARY CLINTON.     WILL HAVE SOME PHOTOS TOMORROW.

AN ESTIMATED 3,000 WENT TO SEE DONALD TRUMP LAST NIGHT AT
DUBUQUE.

YES, WE IN IOWA ARE GETTING MORE "POLITICS" THAN EVER BEFORE, THIS
EARLY....WAY EARLY.

CHECK BACK TOMORROW.
