10,000 COMMUNITIES AROUND THE COUNTRY HELD "NATIONAL NIGHT
OUT" LAST NIGHT, INCLUDING MAQUOKETA AND DEWITT. I WENT WITH
MY CAMERA TO BOTH. THE PURPOSE....TO PROMOTE BETTER UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN CITIZENS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT....TO
ENCOURAGE CITIZENS TO WORK CLOSELY WITH THE POLICE TO MAKE
THEIR TOWN SAFER.
MAQUOKETA'S EVENT FROM 6 UNTIL 8 WAS HELD AT LITTLE BEAR PARK AND
DEWITT'S WAS HELD ALSO FROM 6 UNTIL 8 AT LINCOLN PARK DOWNTOWN.
DEWITT HAD MANY MORE THINGS AND THEREFORE MANY MORE PEOPLE BUT IN BOTH TOWN, ALL WERE HAVING FUN.
FIRE DEPARTMENTS IN BOTH CITIES ALSO HOSTED THE EVENT, AND IN
MAQUOKETA, THE WATERBALL GAME WAS POPULAR AND IN DEWITT,
A BUCKET RACE LOOKED LIKE FUN....
PONY RIDES AND TRAIN RIDES HAD A LINE-UP IN DEWITT...
MAQUOKETA KIDS LOVED THE BOUNCE HOUSE AND DEWITT KIDS WAITING
FOR A FACE PAINTING....
YES THERE WAS FREE FOOD AND OTHER REFRESHMENTS.
PRIZES IN DEWITT INCLUDED A COUPLE BIKES.
MAQUOKETA'S NEW PLAYGROUND WAS VERY BUSY.
NEXT YEAR, DEWITT WILL BE ABLE TO HAVE MUSIC ON THEIR NEW PARK
BANDSHELL (IN BACKGROUND) BEING BUILDT NOW.
A FUN NIGHT IT WAS!
THANKS TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENTS IN BOTH COMMUNITIES FOR
ORGANIZING "NATIONAL NIGHT OUT".
WYOMING ALSO HAD NNO LAST NIGHT, AND THERE MAY HAVE BEEN OTHERS
IN THE KMAQ AREA.
THE WEATHERMAN REALLY COOPERATED!
