RAIN AND STORMS TODAY IN EASTERN IOWA, STARTING EARLY THIS
MORNING. DELAWARE AND DUBUQUE COUNTY EARLY HAD HIGH WINDS
AND SOME DAMAGE AND LOTS OF RAIN. BELLEVUE GOT THE FIRST
HEAVY RAIN IN JACKSON COUNTY. THE BELLEVUE GOLF COURSE
HAD TO CLOSE.
JACKSON COUNTY WAS UNDER A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH ALL MORNING.
NO HIGH WINDS BUT A LOT OF RAIN.
LATE THIS AFTERNOON, ANOTHER BAD STORM WENT THROUGH CLINTON
COUNTY ALONG HIGHWAY 30, LARGE HAIL TOO.
72 THE HIGH TODAY.
MORE RAIN TONIGHT.
THEN TOMORROW ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY.
BACK TO RAIN ON WEDNESDAY. AND THAT'S THE WAY IT HAS BEEN GOING
FOR A LONG TIME.
SATURDAY RAIN HURT A LOT, BUT EVERYTHING WENT ON AS SCHEDULED.
THE WOODCARVERS ENDED THEIR CONFERENCE WITH GOOD ATTENDANCE
SATURDAY AND THE LAST DAY SUNDAY. THE TIMBER CITY ADVENTURE
RACE WENT ON AS SCHEDULED, BUT RAIN PROBABLY CUT DOWN ON
PARTICIPANTS. THE TASTE OF MAQUOKETA FOODFEST WAS HELD FROM
11 UNTIL 2 AND I WAS TOLD FEATURED SOME TASTEY FOOD AT BARGAIN PRICES. THE FIREMEN'S MUSIC EVENT STARTED WITH RAIN AND THEN LATER AS RAIN PAST THROUGH, ATTENDANCE PICKED UP AND A GOOD TURN OUT (AROUND 500 FOR THE NIGHT) STAYING LATE, UNTIL MUSIC ENDED AROUND MIDNIGHT. EVERYONE LIKED THE DES MOINES BAND, "STANDING HAMPTON"....AND THEN, THE FLY-IN BREAKFAST, WITH BEAUTIFUL WEATHER SUNDAY, WAS A BIG SUCCESS. MORE ABOUT IT INCLUDING SOME PHOTOS BELOW.
ANOTHER BIG WEEKEND COMING UP WITH MAQUOKETA MOTOR MADNESS CAR SHOW. MORE LATER THIS WEEK ABOUT IT.
IN SPORTS....THE BELLEVUE COMET SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT SATURDAY
WAS A GOOD ONE FOR THE CARDINALS. MAQUOKETA OPENED WITH
A WIN OVER WILTON, THEN A WIN OVER BELLEVUE MARQUETTE AND
IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, MAQUOKETA WAS LEADING 4 TO 0
AT THE TIME THE RAIN CAME.
CARDINAL GAMES SCHEDULED FOR TONIGHT WERE POSTPONED.
