THE COUNCIL OKAYED THE NIGHT OF APRIL 27TH FOR THE ANNUAL
BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS BANQUET.
SUNDAYA, JOSEPH ARTERBERRY, AGE 40, OF MAQUOKETA AND FRANK
ELLLENZ, AGE 60, OF MAQUOKETA, WERE IN AN ACCIDENT.
ARTERBERRY COULD NOT GET STOPPED FOR A STOP SIGN DUE TO
ROAD CONDITIONS AS HE WAS TRYING TO CROSS PLATT STREET AND WAS STRUCK BY THE ELLENZ VEHICLE. NO INJURIES.
THE MAQUOKETA FIRE DEPARTMENT RECEIVED A "BETTER" RATING
THROUGH THE INSURANCE SERVICES OFFICE. THE MAQUOKETA DEPARTMENT IS IN THE TOP 17% OF THE 49,000 DEPARTMENTS IN THE USA.
THIS BETTER RATING WILL PROVE BENEFICIAL TO RESIDENTS AND
BUSINESSS OWNERS IN MAQUOKETA....RESULTING IN LOWER COST INSURANCE RATES.
THE JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS LOOKING BACK AT
HARNESS RACING IN THE COUNTY OVER THE YEARS. THEY ARE WORKING ON AN EXHIBIT THAT WILL BE IN THE MACHINE SHED THIS SPRING AND
ALSO WILL PLACE A BLACK GRANITE STONE AT THE FAIRGROUNDS WHERE
JACKSON COUNTY'S MOST FAMOUS RACING HORSE, "BILLY THE GREAT" IS BURIED. MORE ON THIS LATER.
