JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISOR LARRY "BUCK" KOOS WILL BE HONORED IN DES MOINES FOR HEROISM DURING THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE SHOOTING IN MAQUOKETA SEPTEMBER 9TH. A PLAQUE WILL BE PRESENTED TO KOOS DURING THE IOWA STATE ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES FALL CONFERENCE

MEMBERS WHO ARE ELEGIBLE FOR EARLY RETIREMENT NEXT YEAR.
SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS MONDAY NIGHT APPROVED AN EARLY RETIREMENT WHICH WOULD AFFECT ALL MAQUOKETA DISTRICT EMPLOYEES. BOARD MEMBERS DID NOT DECIDE HOW MANY EMPLOYEES THEY WILL ALLOW FOR EARLY RETIREMENT. FIRST, THEY MUST APPLY IF INTERESTED AND THEN THE SUPERINTENDENT THE RETIREES THROUGH A LOTTERY SYSTEM, ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST SERVED SYSTEM.

A CAR-DEER ACCIDENT....AT 2 A.M. LAST FRIDAY ON HIGHWAY 61. VICKY WINKELMAN OF MAQUOKETA, HIT THE DEER AND THE RESULT, DAMAGE TO HER CAR ESTIMATED AT $7,500.
MAQUOKETA POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A VANDALISM INCIDENT AT HORSESHOE POND PARK. MONDAY MORNING, A REPORT INDICATED THE REGISTRATION BOX AND OTHER ITEMS WERE VANDALIZED.
