MONDAY DAILY REPORT

THE WEATHER...
WAS SUPER OVER THE WEEKEND.
WAS EVEN BETTER TODAY.
MAYBE LAST DAY IN 70'S FOR A LONG TIME?
COOLER WEATHER STARTING TOMORROW.

MAQUOKETA CLOSED OUT THE 2014 FOOTBALL SEASON WITH A 28 TO 0
LOSS TO INDEPENDENCE FRIDAY NIGHT AT GOODENOW FIELD.

THE GIRL'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM IS IN TOURNAMENT PLAY TONIGHT AT ELDRIDGE AGAINST NORTH SCOTT.

ONE OF KMAQ'S BEST LISTENERS FOR MANY YEARS DIED LAST NIGHT AT
HER HOME AT SPRAGUEVILLE, AT AGE 92.   GERALDINE LAMBERT STOPPED IN HERE AT KMAQ ALMOST EVERY WEEK.   SHE WAS OUR #1 AUCTION SHOW
BUYER AND SHE MADE MORE THAN A FEW TRIPS WITH KMAQ TRAVEL.
YOU COULD FIND HER EVERY WEEK ATTENDING AN EVENT IN JACKSON COUNTY.   FOR HER COMPLETE OBITUARY, GOOGLE LAW-JONES FUNERAL
HOME IN PRESTON.   WE AND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WILL MISS

WE VISITED MY HOMETOWN OF HORICON, WISCONSIN OVER THE WEEKEND, HOME OF THE HUGE (30,000 ACRES) HORICON MARSH.     THE $6-MILLION VISITOR'S CENTER IS ABOVE.    THIS TIME OF THE YEAR, THOUSANDS COME TO SEE THE MIGRATING GEESE....AND DUCKS....AND SWAN.   

THE JACKSON COUNTY HORSE AND HARNESS SOCIETY HAD THEIR ANNUAL HAND CORN-HUSKING CONTEST RECENTLY.   THERE WERE 18 PARTICIPANTS THAT PICKED CORN BY HAND AND  PITCHED THE EARS INTO A HORSE DRAWN WAGON.    THERE WERE 9 MEN, 6 WOMEN AND 3 KIDS.
CHRIS WATERS TOOK FIRST IN THE MEN'S DIVISION PICKING 160 POUNDS
IN THE DESIGNATED TIME.    LUANN REUTER TOOK FIRST IN THE WOMEN'S DIVISION, PICKING 122 POUNDS.   AND THE YOUTH DIVISION, CALEB FISHER TOOK FIRST.   ADULT WINNERS RECEIVED LEATHER GLOVES AND THE YOUTH GIFT CARDS.      THE EVENT WAS HELD NEXT TO THE CLINTON ENGINES
MUSEUM AND CO-SPONSORED BY THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY.

KRISTY MICHELS, 50, OF MAQUOKETA DIED SATURDAY EVENING AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS IN IOWA CITY.    SHE LIVED AT PRAIRIE HOUSE IN MAQUOKETA AND WAS EMPLOYED WITH DAC FOR MANY YEARS.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE A SISTER ROXY RAY OF MAQUOKETA.    PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT THE HACHMANN FUNERAL  HOME IN BELLEVUE.

THE VOY BOYS LAST SATURDAY NIGHT.    LEFT, CHUCK, THE YOUNGEST, 67,  FROM MILWAUKEE (BACHELOR) AND GERALD AT RIGHT,  4 YEARS OLDER, IN HORICON WITH WIFE BETTY.    THE MIDDLE GUY, ANOTHER 4 YEARS OLDER, THE OLDEST.
