ENOUGH SAID.

THE MAQUOKETA FIRE DEPARTMENT HAS RECEIVED A LOWER RATING FROM THE ISO, AN INSURANCE ASSOCIATION.    CURRENTLY, THE CITY'S RATING IS AT 5.  AFTER THE RECENT INSPECTION, THE RATE WAS REDUCED TO 4.   FIRE
CHIEF MARK BECK SAID THE RESIDENTIAL INSURANCE RATES WILL NOT BE
EFFECTED, BUT IN A YEAR, THE COMMERCIAL RATE WILL LIKELY BE REDUCED.
HE SAID THE RATING IS THE RESULT OF WORK BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, DISPATCH AND CITY WATER DEPARTMENT.   HE SAID THEY HAVE WORKED
HARD TO MAKE THE REDUCTION.    HE ALSO SAID THE LACK OF FULLTIME
PERSONNEL CAUSED THE DEPARTMENT TO LOOSE SOME POINTS.    CITY
COUNCILMAN AND FIREMAN JERRY BOWEN SAID THE 4 RATING IS A BIG THING FOR A SMALL FIRE DEPARTMENT LIKE MAQUOKETA.

THE MAQUOKETA POLICE DEPARTMENT IS INVESTIGATING TWO THEFTS.
FRIDAY AFTERNOON, JEFF MORITZ ON SOUTH JONES TOLD POLICE HIS
SON'S BIKE WAS TAKEN OVERNIGHT, VALUED AT $100.
