HOT AND HUMID TODAY...84.
CHANCE OF RAIN TONIGHT.
TOMORROW PARTLY SUNNY AND 82.
WEDNESDAY, ONLY 72 FOR A HIGH.
YESTERDAY MORNING, A STABBING INCIDENT AT "CLUB SHAKERS" JUST
WEST OF LAMOTTE. THREE PEOPLE IN A FIGHT, NO NAMES RELEASED,
ALL 3 REFUSED MEDICAL TREATMENT. ONE HAD A CUT TO HIS EAR AND ARM, ANOHTER A STAB WOUND TO HIS ABDOMEN, AND THE THIRD A STAB WOULD TO HIS BACK. THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES. "CLUB
SHAKERS" HAS BEEN IN JACKSON COUNTY QUITE A FEW YEARS AND
IS AN ADULT MEN'S BAR WITH FEMALE DANCERS. NO, NEVER BEEN THERE.
I'VE HEARD MOST OF THE PATRONS ARE FROM DUBUQUE COUNTY.
WE VISITED WINTERSET SOUTHWEST OF DES MOINES YESTERDAY.
NICE COUNTY-SEAT CITY OF 4,800 WITH A TOWN SQUARE AND BEAUTIFUL
OLD COURTHOUSE IN THE MIDDLE. FAMOUS FOR TWO REASONS:
BIRTHPLACE HOME OF JOHN WAYNE AND HOME OF COVERED BRIDGES, AND
THE FAMOUS CLINT EASTWOOD MOVIE, "BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY".
BOTH BRING LOTS OF TOURISTS. THE DOWNTOWN HAS HAD THE
"STREETSCAPE" DONE AND WITH GREAT SUCCESS. WE VISITED 3 OF THE 6
COVERED BRIDGES, ALL ON GRAVEL ROADS IN THE COUNTRY. NEXT TO
THE JOHN WAYNE HOUSE IS A MUSEUM WITH STATUE OF JOHN AND A
MUCH LARGER MUSEUM IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND WILL OPEN NEXT
MAY WITH A $3.5 MILLION DOLLAR JOHN WAYNE COLLECTION DONATED BY
A WEALTHY FAN OUT EAST. THE VISIT WAS MUCH BETTER THAN I HAD
EXPECTED IT WOULD BE AND I'M GOING TO GO BACK NEXT YEAR. WILL
TAKE MY BROTHER ALONG WHO IS AN AVID JOHN WAYNE FAN. JOHN MADE
142 MOVIES. A FEW PHOTOS BELOW:
LOTS OF COURT NEWS TODAY. BUT, AS YOU KNOW, WE NEVER USE IT
HERE ON THE DAILY REPORT.
CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT.
HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
