TUESDAY DAILY REPORT

SUNNY AND COOLER TODAY WITH A HIGH IN THE LOW 70'S.
NOT MUCH MORE RAIN AND COOLER WEATHER IS FORECAST FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK.
THE RIVERS ARE RISING TO NEAR RECORD  HIGHS AND WILL START GOING BACK DOWN THURSDAY.    LOTS OF FLOODING.
MAQUOKETA HAD HIGH WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN AGAIN LAST NIGHT.
THIS TREE I SPOTTED ON WEST LOCUST STREET.    ALL OVER TOWN TODAY, HOMEOWNERS WERE MAINLY PICKING UP BRANCHES, NOT WHOLE TREES.
GOVEROR BRANSTAD WAS SCHEDULED TO TOUR JACKSON COUNTY THIS
AFTERNOON, AFTER LOOKING A STORM DAMAGE FIRST IN JONES COUNTY.
JONES COUNTY HAS MUCH MORE DAMAGE THAN  JACKSON COUNTY.
MANY PEOPLE WERE DEALING WITH WATER IN THEIR BASEMENTS.
A FARM SHED FELLL ON A COMBINE ON 188TH STREET.    A MOBILE HOME
WAS MOVED FOUR FEET OFF IT'S FOUNDATION IN NORTHERN JACKSON COUNTY.    LOTS OF POWER LINES WERE DOWN IN BOTH COUNTIES. 
JOE KURTENBACH'S DAIRY FARM BUILDINGS WERE LEVELED ON 20TH AVENUE NEAR WYOMING.      JACKSON COUNTY ENGINEER CLARK SCHLOZ SAID A BRIDGE NEAR EMELINE WAS DESTROYED IN THE STORM.   
SHERIFF KETTMANN SAID THERE WAS A LOT OF DAMAGE IN THE OTTER CREEK AREA.   IN MAQUOKETA, ABOUT 35 ELECTRIC CUSTOMERS WERE
WITHOUT POWER FOR SEVERAL  HOURS.
CITY  RESIDENTS ARE HAVING TO GET RID OF THEIR DOWNED TREE BRANCHES ON THEIR OWN.    AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING LAST NIGHT, MAQUOKETA PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR FRANK ELLENZ SAID THE CITY
IS NOT ISSUING A BRUSH EMERGENCY.
STRONG WINDS MONDAY AFTERNOON BLEW OVER A SEMI ON HIGHWAY 61 IN CLINTON COUNTY.    THE DRIVER WAS TAKEN TO THE DEWITT HOSPITAL AND THE DAMAGE TO HIS TRUCK WAS ESTIMATED AT $5,000.          
                                     DARN RAIN
IN SPORTS, THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM PLAYED IN THE DAVENPORT ASSUMPTION TOURNAMENT LAST SATURDAY AND WON 2 OF THEIR 3 GAMES, BEATING EASTON VALLEY 10 TO 0 AND BELLEVUE MARQUETTE 2 TO 0.    THE  FINAL GAME THEY LOST TO DAVENPORT
ASSUMPTION 1 TO 0.  THE CARDINAL GIRLS ARE NOW 12 AND 17.
THEY (BOYS  TOO) WERE SCHEDULED TO HOST DEWITT  LAST NIGHT BUT BOTH DOUBLE-HEADERS WERE POSTPONED BECAUSE OF THE RAIN.

THE WISCONSIN HIGH SCHOOL STATE FINALS RODEO COMPETITION WAS HELD IN RICHLAND CENTER, WISCONSIN RECENTLY.   AND SEVERAL IOWA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS QUALIFIED FOR THE NATIONAL SCHOOL RODEO FINALS, INCLUDING BEN KILBURG OF MAQUOKETA AND ATLEE MILLER OF MAQUOKETA.    KILBURG IN STEER WRESTLING AND MILLER IN ROPING.
THE NATIONALS ARE IN ROCK SPRINGS, WYOMING JULY 13-20.
