THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TODAY APPROVED A LOAN
TO HOSPICE OF JACKSON COUNTY FROM THE JACKSON COUNTY REVOLVING
LOAN FUND, FOR $56,000 TO PURCHASE THE BUILDING THEY ARE
CURRENTLY IN ON WEST PLATT STREET. THE BUILDING WAS THE
DR. SWIFT BUILDING AND IN PAST YEARS, THE HOME OF MEDICAL ASSOCIATES. THE LOAN AT 1% INTEREST IS FOR 5 YEARS. EARLIER THIS MONTH, HOSPICE SCRAPPED THE IDEA OF BUILDING THEIR OWN BUILDING
ON LAND THEY OWNED NORTH OF THE HOSPITAL. THEY DID THIS BECAUSE
FEDERAL FUNDING FOR HOSPICE HAS BEEN DRAMATICALLY CUT AND
THE COST OF A NEW BUILDING HAS GONE WAY HIGHER THAT THE
ORIGINAL ESTIMATE. THIS IS A GOOD MOVE BY HOSPICE TO BUY
THE BUILDING THEY ARE IN.
