OPTIMIST CLUB "RESPECT FOR LAW" BANQUET

THE ANNUAL OPTIMIST RESPECT FOR LAW BANQUET WAS HELD LAST  NIGHT AT THE EAGLES CLUB WITH 80 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE.   THE SPEAKER WAS GARY DREW OF MAQUOKETA WHO HAS A COMPANY AT RURAL MAQUOKETA CALLED "ENERGY TEC/MAQUOKETA BIO FUELS".
POLICE CHIEF BRAD KORANDA TALKED ABOUT THE RECENT "SHOOTING" INCIDENT IN MAQUOKETA.   HE RECOGNIZED WITH ACCOMMODATION LETTERS, OFFICER BRENDAN ZEIMET WHO WAS SHOT THAT NIGHT;
MIKE DeMOSS, THE RADIO DISPATCHER ON DUTY THAT NIGHT AND POLICE OFFICERS PAT FIER AND JASON THOMSON ON DUTY THAT NIGHT.  
THEY EACH RECEIVED A HONOR PINS AND  ZEIMET A VALOR PIN AND PURPLE HEART PIN.
AND CHIEF KORANDA PRESENTED THE OPTIMIST "RESPECT FOR LAW" AWARD TO JERRY BOWEN FOR IS  YEARS OF SERVICE AS A POLICE RESERVE OFFICER.    BOWEN RETIRED THIS YEAR.   BOWEN,  ALSO A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, WAS GIVEN A PLAQUE FROM THE OPTIMIST CLUB.
SPECIAL GUESTS PRESENT LAST NIGHT, THE OPTIMIST LT. GOV. LEE NELSON AND HIS WIFE MARLISE AND THE OPTIMIST  DIST. GOV. CYNDI BARBER AND HER MOTHER SHIRLEY DUNSTON.
