FRIDAY DAILY REPORT

ANOTHER COOL DAY.... WITH A LITTLE SUNSHINE THIS AFTERNOON, WE
GOT UP TO 50 DEGREES.
TOMORROW AND SUNDAY WILL BE WARMER.

MORE THAN 30 LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS DESCENDED ON A HOME ON THE BELLEVUE-CASCADE ROAD AROUND 7 THIS MORNING SEARCHING FOR A METH LAB.       AND THEY FOUND ONE AT 14721 ON THE ROAD AFTER EXECUTING A SEARCH.     THEY FOUND NUMEROUS ITEMS USED IN THE
MANUFACTURE OF METH.   TWO MEN WERE LIVING AT THE HOME AT RURAL ZWINGLE AND BOTH ARE IN JAIL HERE IN TOWN ON $100,000 BOND EACH.
THE RAID WAS THE RESULT OF A LENGTHY INVESTIGATION BY DEPUTIES
BRANDON BECK AND STEVE SCHROEDER.    THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.

KMAQ HAS LEARNED THAT SACRED  HEART PRINCIPAL IN MAQUOKETA, MARY MELCHERT, HAS BEEN RELIEVED OF HER POSITION AND SHE CLEARED HER OFFICE AFTER EASTER.   THE SCHOOL IS ADVERTISING FOR THE POSITION WHICH THEY PLAN TO  FILL THIS SUMMER BEFORE THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR BEGINS.     SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT JARROD MANNING SAID THE BOARD FELT MELCHERT WAS NOT THE RIGHT FIT FOR THE JOB AT SACRED HEART.
SACRED HEART IS PRE-SCHOOL THROUGH 6TH GRADE.  THE INTERIM PRINCIPAL IS FROM THE ARCHDIOCESE IN DUBUQUE.

I HEARD THAT GARY CARSON OF DUBUQUE AND FORMERLY OF THE MAQUOKETA AREA DIED,  BUT KMAQ RECEIVED NO OFFICIAL
NOTIFICATION.     TODAY, THE MAQUOKETA SENTINEL-PRESS ON THEIR OBITUARY PAGE HAS  A  SHORT STORY SAYING HE DIED MAY 5TH AT HIS  HOME AND THAT A PRIVATE FAMILY BURIAL WILL BE IN THE ELMWOOD CEMETERY IN DEWITT.    HIS WIFE DEB CARSON,  A LONGTIME TEACHER AT MAQUOKETA HIGH, DIED EARLIER THIS SPRING.   TWO OR THREE CHILDREN SURVIVE.
