MOSTLY CLOUDY TODAY AND A HIGH OF 56.
MOSTLY SUNNY TOMORROW AND A HIGH OF 67.
SUNDAY, A CHANCE OF RAIN AND A HIGH OF 53.
TWENTY-FIVE MAQUOKETA MIDDLE SCHOOL SEVENTH GRADERS WILL BE GOING ON A TRIP TO THE "ISLE ROYALE NATIONAL PARK" IN LAKE SUPERIOR
THIS MONTH. THE RENEWABLE WORLD FOUNDATION WILL BE ASSISTING
WITH CAMPING SUPPLIES, DRIED FOOD, TENTS AND GUIDES. THE STUDENTS WERE SELECTED IN AN APPLICATION PROCESS, ACCORDING TO
JESSICA HINGTGEN, MIDDLE SCHOOL 7TH GRADE SCIENCE INSTRUCTOR.
THE TRIP WILL BE MAY 13-19. JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD ASSISTANT DIRECTOR ANN BURNS WILL ACCOMPANY THE STUDENTS.
THE JACKSON COUNTY AREA TOURISM ANNUAL BANQUET WILL BE ON SATURDAY, MAY 17TH AT THE MAQUOKETA ART EXPERIENCE AND THE FOOD WILL BE KATERED BY KALMES CATERING. GARY DOLPHIN, THE RADIO VOICE OF THE IOWA HAWKEYES, WILL BE THE GUEST SPEAKER. THE PUBLIC IS INVITED. TICKETS CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE NEW CHAMBER OFFICE INSIDE THE MAE ART BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA.
A LIMITED NUMBER OF SEATS ARE AVAILABLE. IT WILL BEGIN WITH DINNER
AT 6. COME EARLY AND TOUR THE BUILDING AND ENJOY THE ART
ON DISPLAY.
YESTERDAY WAS THE 54TH ANNIVERSARY OF DICK AND JANE (WOODS) MOELLER WHO NOW LIVE IN SOUTH CAROLINA AND ARE FORMER MAQUOKETA RESIDENTS.
FORMER MAQUOKETA PASTOR DAVE DRESCHER VISITED MAQUOKETA THIS WEEK. HE WAS THE PASTOR OF FAITH COMMUNITY CHURCH IN MAQUOKETA AND FOR ALMOST 13 YEARS, HAS BEEN THE PASTOR OF THE CORNERSTONE EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH IN BLUE EARTH, MINNESOTA.
HE HAS REMARRIED (WIFE DIED AS A RESULT OF AUTO ACCIDENT) AND THE BLENDED FAMILY CONSISTS OF 9 CHILDREN AND 12 GRANDCHILDREN.
HE READS THIS DAILY REPORT, DAILY. HE STOPPED AT KMAQ, BUT I WAS OUT AND I'M SORRY I MISSED VISITING WITH HIM.
