BANOWETZ ANTIQUE MALL IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS! YES, AFTER 44 YEARS IN BUSINESS, KATHY AND VIRL BANOWETZ ARE READY TO SLOW DOWN. LATER THIS SUMMER, THEY EXPECT TO CLOSE THE MALL
IN MAQUOKETA. KATHY SAID THE WILL START SELLING DOWN THE INVENTORY IN THE NEXT WEEK TO 10 DAYS. UP UNTIL A COUPLE YEARS AGO, THEY HAD TWO BUILDINGS NEAR THE HIGHWAYS 61 AND 64 INTERSECTION. THEY SOLD THE LARGE BUILDING AND HAVE BEEN OPERATING IN THE SMALLER BUILDING ACROSS THE STREET, SHOWN ABOVE. THEY OWN THIS BUILDING AND THE BUILDINGS A MILE NORTH
OF TOWN, JUST OFF HIGHWAY 61. THIS BUILDING WILL BE SOLD.
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THEY WILL KEEP OPERATING SQUIRES MANOR BED AND BREAKFAST. KATHY SAID THE ANTIQUE BUSINESS HAS CHANGED A LOT, AND THE INTERNET HAS BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR SOME CHANGES.
OVER THE YEARS, THE MALL HAS BROUGHT CUSTOMERS FROM FAR AND WIDE, KIND OF LIKE A TOURIST ATTRACTION FOR MAQUOKETA. KATHY ALSO SAID..."WE DELIVERED TO EVERY STATE IN THE UNION AND SHIPPED TO 20 COUNTRIES".
