WEDNESDAY DAILY REPORT

VERY LIGHT SNOW TODAY AND HIGH OF 17.
TONIGHT, LOW OF 11.
TOMORROW, IN THE 30'S FOR JUST ONE DAY.

JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION WILL HOLD TWO PUBLIC MEETINGS
TO  GATHER IDEAS FOR THE USE OF THE LAND GIVEN LAST YEAR TO THE COUNTY BY THE LATE BOB MARTIN, WHO WITH HIS DAD, RAN JOE MARTIN
AUTO SALES IN MAQUOKETA FOR MANY YEARS, WHERE MAQUOKETA'S CITY HALL IS NOW.      THE LAND IS 273 ACRES IN SIZE, JUST EAST OF MAQUOKETA, WITH PRAIRIE CREEK RUNNING THE LENGTH OF IT.
THE FIRST MEETING WILL BE AT 6:30 NEXT TUESDAY AT THE HURSTVILLE
INTERPRETIVE  CENTER.    THE 2ND OPEN MEETING WILL BE AT 10 A.M. SATURDAY, MARCH 8TH AT THE MAQUOKETA CITY HALL.

THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE PHOTO IN YESTERDAY'S REPORT OF A GROCERY STORE IN WESTERN JACKSON COUNTY.    JERRY BAGUSS EMAILED ME
AND SIAD WHEN HE WAS GROWING UP, BOTH MONMOUTH AND BALDWIN HAD STORES.   IN BALDWIN IT WAS ON THE SW CORNER ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE
YOU TURN TO GO NORTH ON MAIN STREET.   IN MONMOUTH, THERE WAS A STORE ON MAIN STREET JUST SOUTH OF WHERE THE THEATRE WAS.
TOM YAROLEM NOW OWNS THAT BUILDING AND A YEAR OR TWO AGO, THERE WAS A SECOND-HAND STORE IN THE BUILDING.    JERRY GOES ON TO SAY THAT ONE OF THE STORES, HE THINKS THE ONE IN MONMOUTH, WAS CALL
BRISTALL'S.    HE IS NOT SURE WHO OWNED THE ONE IN BALDWIN.
SO, GOOD INFORMATION FROM JERRY, BUT WE STILL DO NOT KNOW FOR
SURE WHAT STORE IS IN THE PHOTO.     MONMOUTH HAD A MOVIE THEATRE?
THAT'S NEWS TO ME.!

JACKSON COUNTY'S TAX RATE WILL NOT GO UP THIS COMING YEAR.
THE BUDGET WILL USE THE SAME RATE.

"ROBOCOP"  STARTS TONIGHT IN MAQUOKETA AND NATIONWIDE.
AND, STARTING FRIDAY AT THE VOY THEATRE, ONE OF THE MOVIES
NOMINATED FOR AN ACADEMY AWARD FOR BEST PICTURE....
"PHILOMENA", RATED PG13.
NO SCHOOL FRIDAY, SO THE THEATRE WILL HAVE A "BARGAIN MATINEE"
OF ALL 3 MOVIES AT 2 PM.

TAKE YOUR VALENTINE TO A MOVIE!

DENNIS VOY
