THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL IS WORKING ON NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET AND HAD A WORK SESSION LAST NIGHT. LOOKS LIKE THERE WILL BE A TAX HIKE OF BETWEEN 34 AND 50-CENTS PER $1,000 ASSESSED VALUATION.
A 50-CENT HIKE WOULD BRING THE TAX TO $13.35 PER $1,000 ASSESSED VALUATION. FIVE COUNCILMAN ARE IN FAVOR AT THIS TIME, BUT TWO
OTHER COUNCILMEN ARE FOR NO MORE THAN A 34-CENT HIKE.
