STEVE FLYNN ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT HE WILL NOT RUN FOR A 3RD TERM
AS A JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISOR. FLYNN SAID HE AND HIS WIFE
JUNE HAVE PURCHASED A HOME IN ARIZONA AND PLAN TO SPEND
FOUR MONTHS THERE EVERY YEAR.
GOT AN EMAIL FROM JOHN HINZ ABOUT THE STOP LIGHT AT THE
INTERSECTION OF MAIN AND PLATT IN THE 40'S AND 50'S. THIS
IS ANOTHER FOLLOW-UP ON THE PHOTO HERE A FEW DAYS AGO OF THE
STOP LIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. JOHN SAID HE
DOES NOT REMEMBER IT, BUT THAT HIS FATHER JACK TOLD HIM THAT THE CITY AT ONE TIME HAD A RED LIGHT THAT HUNG IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION, SUPPORTED BY WIRES PLACED ON THE FOUR CORNER BUILDINGS. IT WAS USED AS BILL LUCKY DESCRIBED IT, ONLY IT WAS NOT CALLED A STOP LIGHT BUT WAS CALLED A POLICE-CALL LIGHT. AT THAT TIME, THE POLICE STATION WAS IN THE FIRST BLOCK OF WEST PLATT, ABOUT 3-4 DOORS DOWN ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE STREET. JOHN, NOW LIVING IN MORTON, ILLINOIS, CLOSED HIS EMAIL WITH "GO HAWKS". THEY PLAY TONIGHT.
LAST NIGHT, THE MAQUOKETA BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM BEAT CENTER POINT URBANA, 48 TO 45. AND THE GIRLS, PLAYING AWAY, LOST TO C.P.U. BY A SCORE OF 46 TO 37.
THANKS FOR CHECKING IN.
NOTE A COUPLE OTHER ENTRIES BELOW THAT I PUT HERE THIS
AFTERNOON.
