STUDENT MEMBERS MUST HAVE A MINIMUM GPA OF 3.25.
THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL THIS WEEK APPROVED A 3-YEAR CONTRACT WITH UNION EMPLOYEES AT THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.
EMPLOYEES WILL RECEIVE 2.75 PERCENT INCREASE THE FIRST YEAR, 3% THE SECOND YEAR AND 3.5 THE THIRD YEAR.
AND THE COUNCIL APPOINTED DAVE KNOEBEL OF MAQUOKETA TO
THE MAQUOKETA MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC UTILITY BOARD FOR A TWO YEAR TERM, FILLING THE VACANCY OF COUNCILMAN JOSH COLLISTER WHO WAS FORCED TO RESIGN AFTER LEARNING THAT COUNCIL MEMBERS CAN NOT SERVE ON THE MMEU BOARD ALSO. KNOEBEL IS FAMILIAR WITH THE MMEU BOARD AS HE SERVED ON IT IN THE PAST.
DICK TILL, AGE 65, OF SPRINGBROOK DIED LAST SATURDAY. THE FUNERAL WILL BE TOMORROW MORNING. SURVIVORS INCLUDE HIS MOTHER
MARJORIE OF MAQUOKETA AND A SISTER, KRISTI FLENKER OF MAQUOKETA.
PAUL HAYLE OF MAQUOKETA ANNOUNCED ON "JUST TALK" THIS MORNING
THAT HE HAS SOLD HIS "OLD LUMBER YARD" FLOOR COVERING BUSINESS
AND THE NEW OWNER (TO BE ANNOUNCED) WILL MOVE IT TO ANOTHER
LOCATION TO BE ANNOUNCED. PAUL WILL CONTINUE TO OWN THE
EAST PLATT STREET BUILDING AND THE GIFT STORE WILL REMAIN IN
THE BUILDING AND THE OWNERS WILL RENT ADDITIONAL SPACE FROM
HIM TO ENLARGE THE BUSINESS. THIS WILL ALL HAPPEND AFTER THE
FIRST OF THE YEAR. MEANWHILE, BUSINESS CONTINUES AS ALWAYS,
IN FLOOR COVERING AND GIFTS.
